Leg room in Z06

Does the Z06 have more head and leg room than the C-7 Coupe. I have noticed some of the C-7 owners are complaining about head and leg room. :salute:

Since the C5, the internal dimensions have gradually shrunk. The C7 also has seat track limiters from the factory. You could take them off. But for a dimensionally large car it is very tight. I am 6'5, 220 pounds with 36 inch inseam and there simply is not much room.

Many will tell you otherwise because they simply love the car, but its best to just wait and sit in one before you buy or you may well be very disappointed.

My 2c. Good luck.

Definitely less seat travel than our C6.

like they say it is not a car, it is a super man suit

Unplug the seat limiter. Pull up the carpet behind the drivers seat. There is a plastic stripe that has two white wires at the top. Follow those toward the passenger side and there is a small black harness. Unplug that and you will have 2" of leg room. Did mine yesterday

I think the headroom is the worst. I banged my helmet into the roof on both sides of the car. I'm not too tall and I'm mostly legs. I can see tall people having a real hard time fitting in with a race helmet.

All C7's share the exact same frame which means the interior dimensions are the same.

I see no issues with the headroom! I'm sure my helmet will fit just fine like this :-)

What is the seat limiter designed to do? besides the obvious answer of limiting the backward motion of the seat :-) Is there a reason that GM doesn't want the seat to go all the way back, stress on the track, damage to the back of the seat or the waterfall? Etc? I won't need the extra room, but I'm sure my husband might appreciate it being he's 6'4".

I'm sure GM did this to protect the seat back/motor and didn't want unique rails for the touring vs comp seats.

I'm 6' 4" and did this on my C7 Z51 vert. I never had any trouble after doing this. I don't know the long term effects but I drove it for almost a year. I got very tired of getting back out to close the trunk.

I've asked several people associated with GM and have gotten a couple of answers. One answer was that GM experienced warranty returns on C6s for seat-back leather wear caused by rubbing the carpeting behind it. Seems a little thin to me.

The other answer I got was that there is a bundle of wiring underneath the carpeting behind the seat back and the limiter was intended to prevent these wires from getting crushed.

LOL! that's funny!

Has anybody else done this? I'm 6'4 275 lbs. My C6 was tight but I was okay...Any pit falls to avoid when doing this?

jrz1 12-17-2014 09:11 PM

Am 6'4" 240 and I picked my Z up yesterday. WAAY tighter than the C6 Z. Both front to rear leg room and side to side. Also, even base seat is not especially comfortable for me on the bottom. Side bolsters on seat bottom are hard and not far apart enough for my XL size rear. I will try getting rid of the limiter - hopefully that helps. My knee right now is almost touching dash with seat all the way back.

Let me know how that works out. I'm also 6'4" 280's 34" inseam. I should go jump in one at a stealership.

Don't order the sport seat! Suspect you will not find seat especially comfortable unfortunately. It could be a reason I don't keep the Z for long term.

Is this the correct place to unplug it? The above directions say to follow towards the passenger side. However, as you can see from the photo, the wire immediately loops back into the clip (harness).

Either way I did unplug it and it seems like I gained a couple more inches of legroom, but not from the seat backrest going back more because it was already hitting the back before the mod, but from the seat going/sinking lower down...

Thanks for posting the pic. That will help especially if someone weighs in to answer your question.
