whats the difference in headers

what's different between the headers on a 97-2000 and 2001 -2004
I see some from 97 -2004 and others specify one or the other ?

Some year models had emissions fittings on them and some years did not. Some companies make a header with the fitting and without while some just put it on all the headers and block the fitting off if its not used. A lot of shops will delete the emissions equipment that use the fittings and so you don't need it anyway.

On the passenger side exhaust manifold, there is a connection for the EGR pipe - 97 to 2000 its on the rear most cylinder. The later years have it on the manifold near the cylinder one forward from the rear.

The connection on the drivers side is in the same place for all years. Some headers have a provision for this, and the ones that dont will not specify the difference between 97 to 00, just 97 to 04.

I am not a tuner but my guess is yes you will get a code. The code can be turned off by a tuner though

You will get a check engine light and a code stored for the AIR system.

IF you get the car tuned, the tuner can actually delete that system. It will be as if the ECM doesnt know that the car ever had the system in the first place - so no more CEL.
