shifter rattles when I get on it?

doesn't matter what gear when I stomp on the petal the shifter makes a bad rattling noise. Will it go away if i get a new shifter?

if you remove the shift boot by turning the silver part on the shifter knob pull the shift boot down and tighten the allen bolt that holds the shift knob on the the shifter it will prolly stop

I dropped a random nut into the opening of the shifter handle for weight. I then added some RTV for dampening. It took care of the issue on mine along with tightening the allen bolt.

Mine too but it is aftermarket because the huge round metal ball(read megaphone) that threads on to the shaft. i hate it.
Now I'm looking for a MGW. They make the best shifters imho

There's a TSB for this. I changed mine out with the shifter part number in the TSB and it was fine.

Pull up your center console and try tightening the bolts that mount the shift box to the tunnel. You may have the old solid brass mounts on the shift box as I do (mine doesnt rattle though)...in 2010 they went to rubber bushings found in the base C6 to stop the rattle some experience. Aftermarket shifters and knobs can make this worse.

Turn up the stereo or get a louder exhaust, problem solved.

I'll try tightening the bolts and see how that works and let ya'll know..
thanks for the help
