Decision Time: 2016 C-7 Z-51 or Z06?
All,
I bought a C-5 new, then a C-6, new. Neither was a Z-06. Am now driving a Lexus IS F. Knee problems always prevented me from buying a Z06, but with the A8 availability, a Z06 is doable. I've read everything there is to read on the C-7 Z51 and the Z06. Fortunately, I can afford either car and had almost decided upon the Z. Bondurant Driving School a few years back, so I feel I can handle the horsepower safely. However, I never track my cars and the question I am asking myself is should I go for the 3LZ Stage 1 Z06 or will I have buyer's remorse if I choose the Z-51. Opinions welcome. |

I had 2014 Z51 Stingray & put 10K miles on it!
Just picked up 2015 Z06 3lz stage 1 A8!! They're both great cars but the Z06 is incredible!:thumbs::thumbs: |

I went through the same thing last fall...and quite honestly the z06 is such a bargain, even loaded up...that's what we did, picked it up at the museum three days before Christmas and so far my only regret is not living somewhere warmer! 2,000+ miles of fun on it so far.

I had both. U would regret no getting a zo6
|
Got the C7 Z06. This is my 1st vette so I said I want it all. Get the Z06. You only live once
The Z06 is truly amazing |
Go for the C7 Stingray and get the Callaway or Lingenfelter S/C packages. Cheaper, more power and less weight. Callaway comes with a 3 year warranty - not sure on the Lingenfelter.

I would suggest that you might wait till the Birthday Bash, the later part of April, when they usually announce the 2016's to see what is or isn't new for both cars.
But if $$ is NOT a consideration, the Z06 is a no-brainer. If it is, the C7 Z51 is a great deal right now with the 7,000 plus dollar discounts around on a fully loaded coupe. |
I was also thinking about the Z51, But after looking at how I want the car to perform the Z51 would damn near cost me as much as the 2LZ Z06 that I will be buying, also need the Auto trans Bum Right shoulder..My current 2012 CTS V which is what I traded my C6 Grandsport for has ran one of my employees 2014 Z51 and actually beat him 2 times. So, I have to go for the Z06.Both cars look amazing and have huge potential, His Z51 kiks my ass around corners, Only talking straight line I love drags. Good luck you really can not go wrong with which ever you choose..

I have had both and would go for the Z07 if you can afford it. Yes, it's fast but the handling and breaking are also what makes this car what it is. As far as the ride, it's as comfortable as my C7. Wider body is also a plus IMO.

tramlines bad on uneven highways (which is EVERY highway in the Northeast) because of the wider tires and stiffer suspension. I like straight-line stability at high speeds and my last C6Z never provided it. The widebody C6Z was a real head-turner compared to the base coupe, but the base C7 can more than hold its own when it comes to looks compared to it's big brother. I also believe the acceleration gap is much smaller compared to the last generation. And the extra 6-7 grand you'll get off the base model is icing on the cake. Just my 2 cents. |

Simple, go drive both of them!!! Really no decision after that |

Go for the Z06, if you get the Z-51 you may question yourself as to why you didn't get the Z06.

Both are great cars but if you can swing for the Z get it or you will kick yourself everytime you see one.

Drove both at Spring Mtn back to back. The Stingray is great..... until you drive the Z06, then you treat the Stingray like a rental. Night and Day buddy, night and day.
My vote is for the Z06. :D |

Z06/Z07 at less than MSRP and be done with it.
Next caller on the line. |
a C7 Z06 w/1LZ interior & "stage 1 aero" is still a lot more car than a "higher-optioned" C7 Stingray w/Z51...
it's all about the power-train and the suspension. |

it's all about the power-train and the suspension. I had a 2LT M7 Z51 w/ MSRC.... best upgrade I ever did! |
