Me, my new Z06 and a cross country road trip

Hello internet friends! I am getting ready to embark on a cross country road trip from Delaware to California in my new Z06. Never done a x-country trip before, but I'm pretty psyched to do it. My brother will join me about halfway, in Memphis. Planning on 7-8 days to make this happen. No real plan, kinda going with the flow and making up the itinerary along the way. Also plan on keeping this thread up-to-date with pics and entries along the way. GoPro, PDR, iPhone 6 and Canon 5D all primed and ready to record this!

Any tips/tricks out there to make the trip more enjoyable? Any "must see" sights along the way (planning on trying to do most of the trip along I-40)? Any pitfalls to a trip of this length?

 on you guys!

Here she is all clean and ready to go

Try to fit in some of the sections of the old Route 66. Enjoy the new Z06!!

Cool! Have a fun and safe trip, and keep us posted along the way. are you going to wait a few weeks to avoid any possible snow storms?

Try to work-in your first oil change around 500 miles.

Route 66 for sure

Great plan, take your time and don't miss a single one of the outrageous tourist traps along the way!!!!

I'll be 8 weeks behind you taking my new one from the museum to San Francisco. I'm an old fart but wont miss any of the stuff I wondered at in my youth.

Great ride, but slower than the interstate.

Wish I was riding shotgun on this one. In fact, wish I was driving this one. Have fun!

"Standin on a corner in Winslow, Arizona!" Route 40 and Route 66 run together there. Statue there right along the road. There is also a bit of a hole about 65 miles North of Flagstaff, Az. (The Grand Canyon) that you might not want to miss!

What cities are your driving through? Which cities do you plan on staying in, or spending time in?

I've driven 12 round-trips from the east coast to California, the first in a '78 Vette. My number one recommendation would be a side trip to the Grand Canyon, if you haven't been there. I always like to detour through Las Vegas, which I think is the best place to cruise in a Vette. One of my biggest joys is having music picked out ahead of time to match different parts of the country. This spring I'll be driving out to Spring Mountain. You'll have a great time! :flag:

Avoid the interstates. Pack the hatch so you can take the top off whenever the weather warrants it.

Dragon's Tail, Route 66, lot's of pics, enjoy the ride.

Invest in the Nova stretch bra.

I wish, I'm on "Uncle Sam's dime" right now. So I've got to leave in the next two days. I'll just have to roll with the weather and try to avoid the worst of it.

 "bit of a hole"! It's on the list.

Loosely looking to go thru Bowling Green, Nashville, Memphis, Little Rock, Wichita Falls and then a whole bunch of blanks. I'd like to see Roswell, the VLA, maybe Zion and Bryce Canyon. Got friends in SoCal and may head that way and up Hwy 1, or drive up the east side of the Sierras and cross over near Tahoe. Broad strokes, nothing set in stone.

Be prepared to add 20 minutes to each stop for all the nice folks whom you will meet wanting to get close to the car. Some of my favorite memories are the people we met along the way.

Have a safe and fun trip, and good luck with the weather.

Be sure to have lots of cash on you at all times to pay for all the speeding tickets.

If you are doing so cal to SF then please for the love off God do not skip highway 1 through Big Sur. Car commercials are shot there for a reason. I believe the 2014 vette brochure even had a few shots of a Laguna blue coupe cruising that stretch.

Should be fairly broken in by the end.
