P0443 Code pulled.
Anyone with experience having this code.
I replaced the evaporative canister purge solenoid at the pass front head. The condition is this: start up slow stuble in, and upon engine off there is a slight run on. Is there an additional sensor? Where to look? Charcoal canister in rear? Help.. |

Where to look? Charcoal canister in rear? Help.. I had the solenoid backwards on mine which caused it to pull in vapors more than it was supposed to, particularly at idle. I had the run on symptom and fuel trims went crazy at idle/low RPM Code wise.. I'd just replace the solenoid first. It's cheap. |
purge solenoid valve

Put a finger on the solenoid you should feel it pulsing a couple times a second. Seems to pulse constantly on my car, an '11 z06. I actually moved mine to the firewall area to clean up the engine bay. First time I started the engine I got this knocking noise like a woodpecker! Had to mount the solenoid on some rubber isolators. No wonder they put it on the front of the engine.

Yeah if you log evap purge % in HP Tuners you can see it can vary the open time.. presumably some sort of PWM signal like most things these days

Replaced unit
Ok so in my search for the answer, I replaced the lines. Seems ok but code keeps tripping the light.
Can someone send me a pic of the correct installed unit? Inlet/outlet.. I hope I'm not in backward.. I don't have a meter on it for fuel trim but if I don't get this I'm going back to the tuner. Trying to avoid that. If it's inverted, what symptoms would show up? Is it like a check valve? I'm pretty certain it's in right but yah never know.. |
The connection on the side with the electrical connector goes towards the fuel tank. The side without the electrical connector goes towards the engine
It doesn't seal very well in the wrong direction.. so it basically will suck in a bunch of extra fuel vapor under high vacuum conditions (i.e. idle) and fuel trims will go nuts. |
