C5 Z06 guys with C6 Z06 brakes (please read)
Hey guys,
Im honestly starting to get pretty frustrated at the fact that it seems to be getting increasing hard to get a set of nice wheels to fit our C5Z body with the c6 z06 brakes. Can the guys with c5 z06's with the c6 z06 big brake kit post up pictures of their wheel/specs/offsets so we can get a list of this going? This would greatly help our community as im sure a lot of the guys on here are having the same issues. Any help is appreciated! Thank you! -Arbi |
There are a LOT of wheels that will work. It isn't necessarily the offset that dictates which wheels will clear large calipers. It is the shape and depth of the wheel face (spokes). Two different wheels with the same diameter and offset can have different wheel faces, and one will clear while one won't.
All these manufacturers offer wheels of various styles and sizes that will clear C6Z brakes: Forgeline Forgestar IForged 360 Forged ADV.01 HRE CCW BForged Cray Etc., etc. That should get you started. I recommend searching in the C6 section and just see what everyone with Z06 brakes is using for wheels. |

The rears are not an issue for me as I will be running the c5z wide fender options from either L5 or Corvettecreationz with an 18x12 wheel on 335/30/18 tire. |
i have 19in ccw sp500 wheels and im currently looking for a front and rear kit as well
i wouldnt be too scared to run a small spacer if needed, but there is a lot of space between the spoke and the oem caliper so we will see, just have to be in my price range to pull the trigger and ebay is the only place that seems to have them, CMON c6 guys lol |
Forgestar F14's work...

I'm told I can go to a super deep concave in the rear and still clear my C6Z big brakes. |
MOTOJB......that car is VERY well set up

In your pics, the wheels look like 19"s to me. |
18's! Go under my stats...pull up threads started by me and there is a Forgestar F14 thread with 25 or so pages with all of the info you could want to know.
My 18's and the offsets I ordered are listed...and they cleared my C6Z brakes. Thanks! |

neither Phillip@Weld or John@CCW is able to give a 100% answer to what will work and what won't. They are all worried that the front wheels will stick out past the fender.

Running 18" Enkei NT03s F&R... rears fit no problem. F, not a chance. Used Wilwood narrow superlite 6 piston calipers/custom brackets/stock discs, they JUST clear the spokes.
I found a template of the stock C6Z caliper and disc via Google search... printed it out to check clearance. (careful of your printer scaling!) |

The caliper face is fairly tall, (2 3/4"), and flat as well. The C6Z calipers, front and rear, are among the "bigger" calipers available in both respects. This can be a problem if the spokes have even a shallow arc on the back side. I have wheels that clear easily, but haven't been available for years, (SSR Comp's), so a pic wouldn't help you much. |

No wheel will "stick out past the fender" if you simply order the proper offsets. What information are you giving them? John @ CCW has been doing C6Z brake fitments on C5 Vettes for many years. He knows what works, so maybe you confused him. Here is "MotleyDrew"s car. This is a setup he installed years ago. These are CCW SP16s. 18x9.5" with a C5 normal offset of +52mm, or 7.30" of backspacing. Nice and flush. Notice they clear the C6Z calipers? That is because these are CCW's standard shallow lip fitment for clearing big calipers. No magic here. This fitment has been done with other CCW popular models too...

I need these brakes !!!!
Lol Feedback from the owners who have the c6 brakes, are they worth the change more for looks or performance I know from a mechanical stand point they are better, but is it like 50/50 or like 70/30 performance vs bling I'll end up with them either way, just want your .02 |
70 / 30 bling vs performance. I love mine, but it's hard to fault the stockers. Many have successfully autox'ed with the stocks and a pad change.
I have had the C6Z's for years. But I did swap back to OEM and drove it. What a difference in "feel". The initial "bite" of the C6'es are great, but even diving through the neighborhood, I could feel the (apprx) 15lb per wheel reduction of unsprung weight when I switched back. The extra "flywheel" of added mass + added radius was evident too. I really like the C6Z brakes look and initial feel, but IMHO, they're more looks than performance. But, there again, I won't be changing back (to OEM) any time soon :) |
18x10 and 18x11.15 CCW C14 Corsair "Big Street" setup. Running C6Z calipers with Coleman 2-piece rotors and Hawk HPS pads. The rotors shaved off 31lbs!!!
