UnderDash WIRING HELP

2 Attachment(s)
Hi ALL!

OK...car is back together...running (open headers ), moving (brakes done!)...everything seems to be working fine (with exception to vacuum lines-will be on those later this week-another post)....BUT ...I seem to have extra wires under the dash that are not attached...WONDERING what they are for?

they are 3 black 20g and one Brown 16g...(i think on gauge)

checked the AIM...but dont have much direction....

here are some pictures with pen pointing to the wires,
i know the connectors typically fit eachother AND know the wires almost always go the same color/gauge to eachother at the connectors...2 wires in each pic...
2 black are on door side of column
1 black 1 brown on console side of column

would like to know what is attached to what? AND what they are for?

any help would be appreciated

ALSO...
the black ones on door side seem to look like they go together but the connectors slide in, but not snap...(doesnt have the raised bevel)

Model year? Blacks are almost always grounds. Your pics appear to be of grounds but I can't honestly see what you've got. Tachs and speedos have separate grounds; are yours connected?

Could the brown be the one connected to the capacitor fixed to the steering column? (Black wire from capacitor, brown from harness)

69 convert.

i thought blacks were grounds...but wasnt sure as I have no other connectors going there.

Brown to black? I wasnt sure that they changed colors on stock applications? maybe...is this capacitor a 12V source?

thanks!
Ron

The capacitors were used only on factory radio cars to filter RFI. Is your car factory radio? If so, the radio option section in the assembly instruction manual (AIM) shows the capacitors and where they were installed. There are three or four of these. The AIM also shows the ground strap on the factory exhaust.

THANKS! Will check today!

do the speedo & tach need grounds?...wondering if I forgot these...were these the little male pieces that were only attached by a hex screw?

thanks!

OK!!! YES...it is the tach and speedo grounds...good on those...

SO...it looks like the one does go to the resistor?....
i find it odd that the BROWN 12 gauge goes to a BLACK 18/20...
it doesnt fit perfect...

looked at the AIM...this is for the radio resistor??? I am going aftermarket...thus will not need..?... what does it do, just frequency?

THANKS!
R
