C7 race ramps clearance?
 

Im just wondering if these race ramps will have any clearance issues with a C7?

These seem to have a better approach angle.

The RR-40 are too steep and too narrow for a C7.

Do the simple yardstick test to determine whether you need the 10.8 degree ramps or the 6.8 degree ramps.

Very few customers order the one-piece version of the 56" or 67" ramps. The two-piece model is easier to transport and allows side access.

Reverse Logic models RLL-72-2, RLL-80-2, and RLL-87-2 include an integrated XTender and will definitely provide adequate car-to-ramp clearance.

Thanks Fred, I'm going to look into some of the ramps on your site. I have a question about that yard stick formula to figure out approach angle. I'm just a little confused where to take the vertical measurement from. The very end of the elevated side of the yard stick or where the yard stick makes contact with the nose of the car??

At the very end of the stick. Once people realize that the 10.8 degree ramps are about 7.25" high at the 36" mark and the 6.8 degree incline ramps are about 5" high at the 36" mark, it's easier to visualize why these vertical height measurements make sense.

I bought the two piece race ramps and added the extenderz which makes the entry very easy and very gradual. The two piece ramps allow removal of the ramp once the car is up and this allows much easier access to certain areas behind the front wheels. Just don't forget to put them back before you back off of the ramp or it will be a youtube moment and instant fame for you.

The XTenders are a good option if you already own the 10.8 degree ramps and have to adapt the ramps to work with a car that has a lower approach angle. But, if you know you need the 6.8 degree incline of the XTender ramps when you are making the initial ramp purchase, then the 2-stage incline ramps (models RLL-72-2, RLL-80-2, or RLl-87-2) make more sense. They are more convenient to use and store, not to mention more economical.

I have the Race Ramps RR-XT-2 67-Inch XT 2-Piece Race Ramps and they work fine.

I choose this one since I have a low profile floor jack. It will not reach far enough however to raise my Z06 (6" clearance).

This allows me to get the car elevated another 4.3" and now the jack reaches fine.
No issue with clearance as it is only 4.3".

I must be doing something wrong. Using the yardstick test, even with the stage 1 Z06 splitter, I show 11 inches with the yardstick against the tire and hitting the bottom of the spoiler measuring up from the floor to the yardstick.

I have the two piece 67" (RR XT 2 67) Ramps and they BARELY clear the Lashway front splitter. My car has not been lowered at all. Any lower or any more aggressive splitter and I would need the extenders to lower the approach angle.

Do you have the yardstick up against the inboard edge of the tire or against the outboard edge? You should wedge it against the inboard edge towards the centerline of the car where the splitter is further out front. Don't forget that the ramps are 14" wide.

Thanks Fred. I was measuring from the direct center of the wheel. I went back and still have 8.5 from the inside tire so it looks like the 10.8 degree ramps would be fine.

I went with the 8.5 degree just to be sure.

If you would have ordered from RLL I would have pointed out that you get one pair of wheel chocks with the Q2 2015 factory rebate, so you could have saved another $30 by purchasing only two wheel chocks.

Amazon is clearly the biggest Race Ramps reseller and they have a reputation for offering the lowest price, even if their price is higher.

I gave up on ramps when I got my C6 and needed clearance for my large jack with a cross brace to use the front and rear cradle jacking points. Even long, low height ramps slipped! In fact gave them away to someone who needed to get their car up on grass! For less money and more secure I purchased two low cost ($60 each) low profile, light weight hydraulic jacks and with 2 jack pads and have all the room needed. For an oil change, brake pad change, or tire removal don’t even need my large jack with cross brace, I just raise up both sides high enough to slip jack stands under front or rear cradle preferred jacking points.

Fred, I really don't want PayPal financing and 0% for 6 months is different than 0% for 12 moths. I'll also have everything here by Weds. I had a 200.00 Amazon gift card from Christmas and already have an Amazon card. To pay off in 12 months is only 43.48 per month (including the Amazon GC, 26.82 per month). As opposed to 85.35 a month for 6 months with another company I don't really trust (PayPal).

No offense, I just needed to get the best deal. I know you offer good prices. Sometimes the financing is the thing I need to make it worth it. Otherwise I wait until I have cash as I don't have credit card debt unless it's at 0%. I also got a good jack for that 0% for 12 months as well :cheers:

I also have other uses in mind for the ramps. To use to load into a trailer, These should work great for that.

No offense taken. Orders for the RR-80-10-2 ramps are the one model I hate to lose to Amazon. This combo service/trailer ramp design was inspired by the RLL-80-2 ramp I introduced at the beginning of 2013. It was the single most successful ramp model at the Corvettes at Carlisle Show that Summer. So much so, that Race Ramps added the slightly taller and steeper RR-80-10-2 ramp to its product line at the end of 2013.

Thanks for giving me the opportunity to dispel the myth that Amazon is the place to get the lowest prices on Race Ramps. In a couple of weeks we will be launching two new ramp models at the Spring Carlisle Show. The RLL-49-2 and RLL-59-2 models incorporate the same cradle top platform used in the RLL-80-2 model. The cradle top platform helps to keep the non-drive front wheels on the ramp when the rear of the car is lifted with a floor jack. Now customers who don't need the low incline of the 80" ramp have a choice of two less expensive models that feature the cradle top platform.
