How long do stock Z06 tires last?

I'm just curious what your experience is, I'm losing a lot of tread and I'm only 2500 miles in!! not even going crazy on the road either, and no track... yet!

SS or SC2 tires? One dealer told me the Sport Cup 2's last 3000 miles and the Super Sports last 10k miles.

cossan512 04-11-2015 11:53 AM

super sport are supposed to have 30K warranty

The SC's are really a track tire, the SS's will give you good wear, mine have 2100 on them and they look brand new.

You have already run up over 33,000 miles on your C7 Z06?

Breck 04-12-2015 11:00 PM

I have 2500 on the cups 2 and they still look great gonna track them at the corvette bash later this month and then see where they stand... I have an extra set just in case... I'll buy cup 2's if anyone is interested in selling them...
Thanks

Just got back from a California Coast road trip. bought the car and three days later on the road, put 5,000 miles on the Z06..... I could not notice any wear at all. Drove at 85mph a lot of the time. Got great gas mileage averaged 24 mph for the trip and got 32Mpg when I drove 69-70 mph.

No one passed me unless I let em !!:woohoo:

My experience on the MPSS going back to 2012 is roughly around 15-16 K miles of hard street driving. No burnouts or or track use.

How heavy is your foot is the question lol, seriously though are we talking inside edge on the front? Need some more details, but if that's the case have the alignment checked out. Of it's got race specs of -2* it'll wear the inside edge of fronts pretty quick if only cruising down the highway. The general rule of thumb with normal driving is a tire should last ~100 times it's treadwear rating, but the ps cup2 is intended to be a track tire so it's 180 treadwear rating might be deceiving as it's a dual compound and believe they're rating the harder inner as the original cup was rated at 80 and doubt it'll last twice as long being a faster tire...as the bulb that burns brighter burns shorter;)

Regardless, rears are the drivers discretion...here's michelins 20,000 rating given for standard ps2 tires with 220 treadwear rating, hope that helps.

How much is used set of Cup tires with 300 miles on them worth?

Reciprocal 04-13-2015 02:57 PM

No worry, tread is guaranteed for the life of the tire.

AZDoug 04-13-2015 03:21 PM

It depends on how you drive.

I like the use the cornering capability of my cars that do corner, so i don't get much life.

I would get about 10K miles out of the Michelins that were the recommended stock (sticky) tire for my 308.

I had an '82 Camaro Z-28, which didn't have enough power to barely chirp the tires, and the factory tires were worn out at 18K miles.

In fact, the guy that bought my Z-28 told me the tire guy that put new tires on that car for him asked: 'what idiot drove this car to wear the tires out so fast?"

Hey, controllable four wheel drifts were fun. Slow down for a 90* turn? Why?

Doug (the idiot)

I traded in a Subaru STi (300whp) that averaged about 18mpg from Texas to LA. Gotta love this car.
