Picture Request of ACP hood please
Before I dump $2000 into a hood I would love for anyone with the louvered extractor hood to please post pics of any and all angles.
Thanks . |
Why don't you like it?

I have the same hood (See Avitar) and have never had a single problem with it. The fit and finish was perfect. Even the body and paint guy that painted it for me was impressed by the quality.

I just got the same hood, in carbon fiber and found that the quality is unsurpassed. The fitment is exact, just like the stock hood.
Fitment: https://cimg1.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...8d1eb1a4b8.jpg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...80694e5dc6.jpg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...d36477b188.jpg https://cimg5.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...f213afa1cd.jpg The paintwork is being done now. I am going to leave the carbon fiber raw on the underside and treat it with Areospace 303 protectant, which looks great: https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...94fb7534f1.jpg |
Wow that's great to hear

Adding that some customers might experience the passenger side wiper arm rubbing the cowl lip. In that case your shop will need to file the cowl lip back to allow more room. You can do this yourself if you are very careful. I also added washers to the wiper pivot rod assembly however I later found that was not really necessary as filing is all that was really needed in the end. Here is my post on the topic:

It's ok.........
I'm about 95% happy with the hood- the one I have is the fiber glass one. I bought it used from another forum member and got it for a good price. I got it worked and and painted by a shop here locally. The body shop had some issues with the corners near the latches. Also these lights on my car are an older BPP light kit installed by the original owner of the car, they don't let it sit quite a perfect as I'd like. BUT in saying all of that, I have not had issues with the paint peeling, cracking nor any issues with the with wipers hitting the cowl edge.
The things I love about it- the air flow and heat reduction. You can definitely can see the heat escaping on a hot day especially in traffic. Additionally at speed I had not had the lift scare I had with my older hood. https://cimg8.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...933cb089a4.jpg https://cimg2.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...65270817f7.jpg https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...e7cde8e1f5.jpg https://cimg4.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...95277e985e.jpg https://cimg0.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...407c126c87.jpg |
Your cars all look great. To me this is the best looking aftermarket hood.

I wasn't concerned with looks, I was going for function and this hood really provides it. I could feel the aero difference this hood provided on my first lap at speed. Turn 9 at Portland International is also called the back straight. It's a long 140+ sweeper and the car would feel a little loose before the hood, now its a rock!

Any other pictures or experiences? Is the extra $ worth the carbon fiber if you going to paint the whole thing?
|
I would say yes, the quality between carbon fiber and fiberglass is very noticeable. My previous hood was the zr duraflex hood and the amount of work that had to go into it to make it minimally acceptable cost far more than if I would have bought a top of the line CF hood to begin with.
My ACP hood is being painted at this time, I will post some pictures once it's done. |
Thanks keep the comments, input, and pics coming.

I finally got my ACP hood painted. It came out amazing, the body shop did an excellent job and exactly matched the electron blue against only one of my headlight covers as they did not have my car onsite when they did the work. In the end, I decided to go with a final coat of flat clear on the exposed carbon fiber on the underside of the hood, which turned out fantastic. In my opinion, flat clear looks far better then gloss on CF. Also, I had a section of the cross beam under the cowl painted black so that blue is not seen under the hood from the driver's seat. More pictures coming later.
