RIP Rob'sC5

A very good friend of mine passed away this week. Rob Brown, or Rob'sC5 as he was known on the boards lost his fight with Cancer on July 6th, 2015 at just 50 years old.

Rob was an avid lover of Corvette's, Harely's and everything fast like all of us. He was an active member of the Corvette forum since 2003 when he had purchased his '03 C5.

His wish was to get a new C7Z06 every since the C7 arrived and start road racing with it. This year he did just that and got to enjoy his new track monster a number of times with family and friends.

He served his country proudly in the United States Army 82nd Airborne Division from 1983-1989. He was an assistant coach for the Arlington Stingrays swim team and a golf instructor at Hank Haney Golf Academy. Rob was a member of various corvette clubs. He was also lifelong fan of the Dallas Cowboys

Rob was a solid honest person and a bigger than life personality that touched everyone around him. Always willing to lend a hand or help anyone out in need. The door was always open and there was a cold one in the fridge for anyone coming by to talk.

Rob is survived by his wife, Terri Brown of McKinney, Texas; children, Erin Elizabeth Brown-Ramirez and husband Marc of San Antonio, Alec Jarrod Brown of Arlington, Texas, Benton Arnold of McKinney, Texas, Kaliegh Landreth of Poyen, Arkansas; seven grandchildren; mother, Kathy Brown of Atlanta, Georgia; father, Steve Brown of Grand Prairie; sister, Ruby MacDonald and husband Dave of New Jersey; and two nephews.

If anyone is interested memorials may be made to Good Days, formerly known as Chronic Disease Fund at www.gooddaysfromcdf.org.

Shot of his hot rod at MSR Cresson here in Texas at a track day this spring.

Anthony:

Thank you for making this post about Rob.
I also made a post in our local GTG thread about him as well.

Rob has been in our Corvette group ever since he got his new C7Z06, and its been a pleasure to know him for the short time we had.

He was a great guy and I remember sitting next to him at our GTG's and had great conversations with him.

We are all going to raise a glass in his honor next time we all meet up.

He will be very missed by us all.

Rob and I had met through Louis after some postings on the board. I can't remember if Louis bought a set of wheels from him or vice versa. At any rate he came by the old place in Wylie and did some detail work for us for a while before he got to busy at work. In 2007, unknown to both of us, we moved in to the same neighborhood one street apart within 7 days of each other.

Kinda of funny really.

He got me to get my first Harley and we used to go riding those I would say much more than taking the Vette's out.

I'll never forget the day he called me at work to tell me what was going on.

None of us will ever understand why life happens the way it does, and why it seems like it always takes the ones that seem to give so much.

Anthony,
I know posting this was a hard thing for you to do. But thank you for doing it.

My prayers go out to his friends and family.

Rob is :auto: in heaven where tires never go away, brakes never fade and gas is cheap.

Rob must have been a helluva guy. Sad to think about but best wishes to his family and friends. And, Anthony, you really hit it out of the park with your write up, but especially this part---it is worth repeating:

"None of us will ever understand why life happens the way it does, and why it seems like it always takes the ones that seem to give so much."

I just tonight saw this posting about Rob's passing and it really saddens me. Rob was a member of our Blue Thunder Corvette Club for many years and everyone in the club enjoyed bring around him. We had lost contact with him over the years and wish we had known about this last year. RIP Rob....
