I'm in a tough spot...value of my GMP 1/12 C5R 9/11 edition

I have the 1 of 350 Dale Earnhardt / 9/11 Commemorative car from Petit Lemans in 2001. Always been boxed, never displayed, everything there. Box isn't perfect, but everything inside is.

I hate to get rid of it, but I honestly have to offload some automotive antiques, aircraft antiques, and random sh*t to protect my real cars...lol.

I am offering this to fellow Corvette forum members cheaper than I've seen several sold on ebay for. 550.00 + shipping firm please...no negotiation...I've done the price drop already. Please help a guy out, and at the same time get a fantastic piece to go in your collection at a discount.

Even if you don't want to sell it on Ebay a good indicator of what people are willing to pay is still the "completed listings" on Ebay.

What did you pay for it?

RC000E 08-14-2015 09:40 PM

I bought it along with a number of other collectibles for one lump sum.

RC000E 08-16-2015 04:08 PM

Well, having seen several of them sell between 605.00 and 625.00, I am willing to sacrifice it to a fellow Corvette forum member for 550.00 + shipping to the dollar...which I suspect would be about 23.00 or so. That's a great deal for someone, and I hope someone takes it. Paypal accepted if sent as a gift payment (no fees).

I hope for your sake that a buyer does come thru. There's no question that the quality of these models and the attention to detail is top- notch. I personally have 7 of these including the one your trying to sell. The production of these is limited between 100-350-500 depending on the model but, overall the models haven't been out long enough to where people are seeking these out, and Ebay prices haven't reflected sales from what I've seen as any more than the retail price of what they originally sold for around $600. I bought all but 1 on Ebay for anywhere between $280-350. The one I didn't I bought from a forum member here for $400. These were all brand new.

I don't see them as often listed as I used to but, there still out there. I do believe in time that these will achieve collector status, the quality of these is just that good, the limited numbers, and considering the success of the C5-R program just enhances the models pedigree.

If you can hang on to it all, I would. In the meantime it's going to come down to someone who can't live without it, or has potential collector status in mind that will ante up for it. Best of luck to you.

Thanks for your continued input. I won't give it away...simple as that. I can't imagine the sale will be encouraged by your kind words describing deals you've been able to get in the past. Thank you for that kind contribution, I'm sure it'll help my situation...which is dire.

Sir, I'm not trying to dampen your dire need intentionally or on purpose. Never once did I say don't try to sell it for that amount. The REALITY is, getting a buyer who will pay that is not impossible but, will be difficult. Don't take my word for it, just look at completed listings for GMP Corvette 1/12, people aren't paying retail or close to retail. The demand for them is not there. The people that have them for sale at retail price and beyond are sitting on them.

My statement of what I paid for mine was to give you some insight on what people are willing to pay, and what the seller is willing to accept.

You have a model that is 1 of 350. Pristine condition but, the packaging does have some damage. When it comes to collecting, the integrity of the box or packaging is just as vital as the contents condition. Damaged packaging will deduct from the value.

You think your model's worth $600, hell I think it's worth that. The majority market says no. Dire straits or not. I had to get thru the sarcasm with wiper blades but, I'll let it go. Peace...

^this guy is funny. Well, suffice to say, no buyer HERE is going to buy it with your ongoing statements, true or untrue, can we agree on that?

Can we also agree, that if you were to sell your items tomorrow, that you'd be selling them for a 350.00 asking price as well?

You're statements were not what people are willing to pay, they are what YOU paid on a given day....that's it. Unless your collection numbers in the hundreds to thousands, I'd have to say your market perspective represents that of a buyer who looks for deals. Keep going, it's fine...we've already concluded this thread is a waste of bandwidth at this stage.

Very nice model. GLWS.

I worked some other options and just decided I can't part with it. Plus, the disaster has been averted, and all is under control. Worked some deals and didn't lose anything in the process....all good.
