Another ZR-1 "Fixer Upper"

Always keeping my eyes open for THE ZR-1 for me, and I came across this one on ebay. Little heartbreaking if you ask me, but I thought I'd post it here in the event someone wanted to try to save it. :flaghalfmast:

Still pretty fast......$20k to $8k in under 10 seconds.:willy: An easy fix for the right person, but no money in it, and if it isn't perfect when its done its a sub $10k car. 41 records, New York, previous flood?

ZR-71 09-08-2015 07:31 PM

That car did more than just hit a curb. Looks like the front dove under something to get that hood damage. And what caused the right side body damage? Hitting a curb didn't do it. I bet the seller is not Original owner either. He thinks the cooling system stuff is the same as any other C4
But for the right price, there's a nice ZR-1 waiting to get back on the road. Would hate to see it parted out. :(

Right now there is a '90 on Craigslist with 1800 original miles for $22,000.

Suppose you buy this damaged eBay car for $10K (the bid is now $9300), how much do you suppose that it would cost to repair all the body damage, paint the car, replace/repair the wheels (at least one is curb damaged, probably beyond repair, I'll be the rest are damaged too just not as bad), new tires, new front airdam?
And then you still have a car with a salvage title?
Really?

Just sayin.

Not to mention that if it needs a lot of the normal C4/C4 ZR-1 items like injector service, clutch slave, fx3 repairs, weatherstrip oil leaks, etc.

Tom400CFI 09-09-2015 10:39 AM

:iagree::iagree: with both of the above. This one's a loser, unless you wanted a cheapish track rat/driver ZR-1. Which that even doesn't make much sense. :(

Its a future part out car. Unless you have more money than common sense. Even at this price it would be hard to break even once all the good suff is gone.

ZR-71 09-10-2015 12:24 PM

Sold for $10,800
For someone that can do the body and paint work themself, it could be worth it.

Maybe a lot going on there? Why is the shift plate lifted? Did that pop out after inpact? We dont know what happened on the underside as well. Shame that happened on a low mileage 90

Obviously thought the low mileage was worth $3000+ :crazy2:Of course that's assuming it actually sold.

Sure hope whomever won it will repair it and not part it out. "They ain't making any more".

Our local Corvette shop has one sitting in his showroom, with no body on it, just the chassie, engine, trans, ect. That was my first good look at the spline and how it's attached to the car, or should I say drivetrain.

I'd take the nice 90 that was 100k miles for 10500

touch up the paint and fix the fuel sender

done.

phrogs 10-09-2015 08:44 PM

Thats a Parts car, It needs something on every corner.

But if you really want to watch for fixer uppers watch the Salvage auctions.

IAAI and Copart.

you don't have to pay to look at the cars for sale.

This red one sold on copart I had bid on it to 4K and was outbid and left it at that.

Parts bitch!
