The only car faster on the lightning lap was the Porsche 918 Spyder , which starts at $867k.

The Z06 slayed the McLaren 650 S, the Lamborghini Huracan, the Porsche GT3, and the Mercedes AMG at Virginia International Raceway, in Car and Driver's annual "Lightning Lap" competition.

Here are the Lightning Lap stats thanks to Car and Driver.

Z06 = 2:44.6 ($100,245)

MacLaren 650 S = 2:45.8 ($353,115)

Lamborghini Huracan LP610-4 = 2:47.5 ($274,720)

Porsche GT3 = 2:50.4 $(162,010)

Mercedes AMG = 2:51.0 ($171,900)

GM wasnt worth saving. American jobs were. The hourly and low salary employees are not the ones who drive business away. Quality, customer support and customer loyalty or the lack of drives the business in either direction.

Think that you are basing that on earlier concerns the Heat soak issue has been pushed way down the list of concerns since it has copme oput and been reviewed/dreiven...not gone...just not as extensive as was first put out there.

The vette wins for a couple laps, then falls apart from lack of quality and shortcuts.

That's the Dodge product.

So you take your $300k and bring 3 Corvettes with you to the track. 2 are cooling off while you're driving the 3rd.

It's great to see good press on the Corvette. It's the best Corvette produced yet and each iteration is improving. I expect it to continue for the C8.

Haters gotta hate.. I'd like to see anybody build a car for 100k that will compete with a new Z06. It can't be done.. I'd love to have one.. or two.. :)

Actually, there is one car for 100k that will compete with, if not beat the Z06. The ugly Nissan GT-R. Ugly as sin and I would never buy one, but that is a beast of a car.

Honestly, this is not that surprising. We all knew the Z06 would be a complete beast of a car as is tradition. Kudos to GM and team Corvette. Goal achieved.

I agree, the GTR is in the ballpark, but it's time at VIR was 5 seconds slower than the Z06. 2015 GTR Nismo was tested.

And the Z06 did this WITHOUT all wheel drive unlike most of the others that were tested.
