Just got back from first LONG road trip in our 2014 ZF1
We drove our 2014 ZF1 from southern Illinois to St Leonard Md to see our first grandchild and attend her christening. Google Maps said it was 885 miles door to door. So we broke it up into two days going out and two returning home.
The Stingray ran flawlessly and was super comfortable. Getting out after a few hours was a bit of a challenge for these OLD bones. But with several complete stoppages due to two bad accidents (fatalities) that shut down US64E and US64W for hours plus countless construction zones I was amazed at the overall average of 28.x MPG. I was surprised how accurate the cars computer was compared to hand calculations - was within a tenth of each other. This was from our hotel in Barboursville WV to home http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v8...psavhns441.jpg Same segment but different screen http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v8...ps9dpmgqwa.jpg One segment will little traffic or construction http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v8...psfrrbi0ih.jpg Rest stop somewhere in WV, reminded me of my years in Germany http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v8...psiyn8ri6b.jpg This car is incredible and the massive brakes saved our bacon at least three times when traffic suddenly came to stop around a blind turn while cruising at 80 MPH. My 2014 Stingray has been FLAWLESS since NEW ZERO RECALLS OR WARRANTY work. The car seems to finally LOOSEN UP at around 7000 miles. Just seems to run easier or more free now. Just thought I'd share. BTW the amount of positive responses from other drivers etc was almost like I was a rock star. Folks love this car. Oh and the reason for our trip http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v8...psmpqooula.jpg Cheers |
I love these cars for cross-country roadtrips! I've been all over the place in mine and have only good things to say. Comfortable, quiet enough, great MPG considering, etc.

Certainly sounds like you had a good trip enjoyed your Corvette and topped it off with a visit with your lovely Granddaughter. Does not get much better than that.

:thumbs:Nice to read about a happy owner for a change. My first road trip was with only 300 miles on my C7. Traveled from western MD down to VIR and back. Great road car. The luggage space in the coupe is very impressive and pleases the wife. Beautiful grandchild and nice car. Hope you have many more pleasant miles.:salute:

Congradulation's on the birth of your first Grandchild! Our family is now up to 9 grandkids and we enjoy our time with every one of them... Nice to hear that your C7 was so good on your trip. Mine is being built next week, and I hope it's as good as my C6 GS has been.

What a great reason to do a road trip!
She's a beautiful baby. :) The fact that the car performed flawlessly is just icing on the cake. |
I didn't think they had the ZF1 in 2014.

That's nice! I like hearing about the car working great, and your reason for going was even greater!
I drove mine 2300 miles home from Bowling Green and it worked perfectly. It's a fantastic car for a road trip. :) |
A great reason to take a long trip in the Vette, not that you really need a reason to get behind the wheel. And congrats on your first grandchild - they are truly a blessing.

When my dealer got his allocation he was able to add the ZF1 to my order with a TPW of July 18th. From a source at BG my LRG ZF1 is less than "1 of 10" for some reason they wouldn't tell me the actual number. According to the new Black Book 142 2014 ZF1's were produced |
Excellent results to be sure! I have not done any trips quite that long but track my mpg manually out of habit from other vehicles. Over the 8500 miles I have put on the car I find that my DIC reported mpg and manually calculated are exactly the same at 24.1 overall.

Sounds like a good trip, I bought my C7 same month my granddaughter was born, figured it time for me to splurge on myself for a change.
Just completed an 1,800 mile trip, I'm more in love with the car now then before the trip, it was awesome in every respect, well maybe the nav is a bit weird. |
Great pictures! Pretty lady! Pretty baby!

Good to hear it was a great road trip. But, fess up Paw Paw, you would have walked that 850 miles to see that beautiful grandbaby. :)

IMHO, the base Corvette should have better wheels than other GM offerings at half the price. (The $37K Buick Regal GS Turbo -- have you seen those 20-inch wheels!) |
