Removal method of the dash vent knob on my '73

I'm taking my '73 dash apart to refurbish it. I have searched youtube and this forum but I can't find how to remove the globe vent and knob that is under the speedometer. I found how to take out the headlight switch but nothing for that other knob. Can someone direct me please?

Just did. Didn't find any info under the "Repair" section. Can you send a link if you are familiar with it please?

Misspoke.....the globe vents can be removed once the dash is out of car. You just need to remove plastic vent plenum behind vent first. Hopes this helps.

If you don't have the pad out, or no space to get to the screws which hold the unit to the rear of the dash, you can pull the ball out by first turning it with the openings pointing towards the left and right of the car. Now pull. Once out you can replace the felt.

Turn the vent ball sideways and they should pop out with a little pull, especially if the felts are old.
Working new felts into the opening could be a little harder.

Not sure if we are on the same page here but this is what I'm talking about. I have the entire unit unscred and it is ready to come off but the knob can't pull through the dash because of the plastic backing. The knob also "Looks" like it is glued, perhaps not but I tried to unscrew it and got absolutely no movement at all.

The little black knob definitely unscrews. It looks like the shaft with the
threads has rusted and binding the plastic knob. Try WD 40 or something
similar and see it that breaks it free. I had to replace one of the original
knobs on my 73 because the flared end of the knob had broken off
years ago.

Sorry, didn't realize you had the dash out
Definitely threaded

:) Got it off. Now to soak the entire mechanism and screws / bolts in Evaporust to break the rust up and get movement. The entire section is apart now, cleaned bagged and waiting in line on the "To do list." Of course, the flat black paint on the metal surrounds is flaking off and will need respray.

Thanks
