early 65 coupe

I have a early 65 coupe serial #100835 Sept 10th 1964. The car seems to be original with the exception of 1 repaint. my question is the door panels appear to be 64 model door panels. Is it possible since this is such an early vehicle that it may have been produced with 64 panels from the factory?

Questions like this come up every so often but the answer is typically the same, someone changed the door panels somewhere along the line. The door panels should be the 65 style with molded arm rests, not the screwed on arm rests. Post up some pics of your 65.

I'd probably do the same thing.

No.

Wow. The 65 doors look much nicer\cleaner.

Without having gone out to look at my 66, I want to say that the 65 -67 inner fiberglass door panel was revised to have a shallow depression along the bottom and in front, every where there is a clip and phillips head screw to secure them with. If you doors have those depressons along the bottom and in the front return with holes in them for screws, then it's pretty obvious someone later installed 64 trim panels.

If your door don't have those depressions, then I would wonder if maybe the doors might not be originals. No. 835 is early, but not that early.

Got it from this website called 65 corvette

But the point is perhaps a previous owner liked the 64 panels better than the 65's (or whatever year that is regardless of website name)

NO. Someone has changed the doors (and the door trim panels).
