Donated My '94!
Because of failing vision over the past year, I had to stop driving. I had become totally blind in my left eye, but still was able to enjoy driving. After being diagnosed with "severe" glaucoma in August of this
year (2015), it became very risky to get behind the wheel. Needing an operation to keep my right eye from getting worse. Coming to the realization that I probably wouldn't be driving again, I decided to donate the '94 to "KARS 4 KIDS". I miss my machine already. Watching it being hauled away on that flat-bed was a tear jerking experience. SOB! SOB! WEEP! SOB! WEEP! |
I'm so sorry to hear about the loss of your sight. Life deals us some bad hands occasionally, but I'm glad to hear you've had those special opportunities to enjoy the good things of life, too! Corvette owners are a special kind of people that aren't afraid to enjoy some good times together, and to create special memories! There are those that have always wished they had a Corvette, but never make the decision, and miss out on all the fun!
 |
Sad bit of business. Hopefully the eyesight in your one eye will stay with you for a very long time.
Hopefully the car goes to a good cause. Tis the spirt of the season. Best of luck to you. |

Sorry to hear about your eyesight problems. I hope you can preserve the sight in your right eye. Your donation of your car will hopefully go a long way to help a child in need.
 |
Awesome gesture. I really hope kids get to do something with it and it's all worth it.
|
Not familiar with the organization - do they do something with the car directly, or sell it to raise funds? Nice gesture either way!
Well, I believe you're in one of the best states to live in with that affliction. At least they say glaucoma is one of the things that smoking that stuff will help! |
Amazing gesture on your part and I sincerely hope your health improves. :blueangel:

Its a very kind thing you did. I hope that kindness rebounds your way. Best of luck with your eyes, losing sight is a very scary thing.

[QUOTE=softwarejanitor;1590979115]Sorry to hear of your affliction. I hope that you can find some treatment to retain or restore your eyesight. I don't know if I could donate my car even under similar circumstances due to $$$ issues. Even though those donations are tax deductible, that only gets you about $0.25 on the dollar. I can't afford to do that on something as big as a car...[/QUOTE
Because the '94 needed weatherstripping, upholstery, carpeting, etc., I didn't have the luxury or time to "wheel & deal" with prices / offers for the car. I have no idea what a '94 LT1, 6spd ln GOOD to FAIR condition WITH 96,000 miles is worth. Thanks for ALL REPLYS. Still SOBBING! :sadangel: |

Sorry, to hear this. Best wishes. For the recovery treatment. There was nobody in your family. To Keep your car close. Your 94. Would be in the average 5k - 6.5k Bracket. Could potentially bring in more.
|
Sad to hear. I hope your eye condition gets improved, and the car's fate isn't an ugly one.
I donated my first car to Kars 4 Kids after it took a crap on itself lol. |

LOL. Rusty??? I purchased my 1st 94 from Fl. 5.5K 2nd 95 from TX 5k returned it due to. the dealer lied about no body damage.
my current 87,xxx from PA 6.5K all admiral blue.. 2 ZF's very hard to find due to color and manual.. one could.. claim. much higher prices??? I found Many RED, BLK, ect 94 - 95's for 4K - 6.5 when it took me a year to replace. My original. the current market is not pulling in premium $$ for the 94 - 96 bracket. MANY people are asking TOP price up to 18K for a LT1 / LT4. they typically will sit right where they are. |
You will always be part of the Corvette community, even if you don't have one. Keep us posted on your condition. Once a Corvette owner always a Corvette family member, good luck
