How many are running Euro ambers in the US
First of all Happy T-day too all of you guys!
So how many of y'all are using the Amber turn signals on your C4's in the US.. I have a set of the amber lenses for my 85 with the updated bumper and i love the look of them just haven't done the wiring for them yet. |
A friend of mine has the divided stop/signal tail lights in his ZR-1 and they really are nice. Amber for the turn sig & red for running and stop. I think they all should have come that way.

Why would anyone would run amber tail lights?
I assume you want others to enjoy your expense. |

We have to use them here in Australia, I suppose some people would freak out if they saw red tail lights flashing lol: willy: http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/...psqss65vtl.jpg http://i1230.photobucket.com/albums/...ps685dc13c.jpg |

Because they look BITCHIN. And a question for you,why would you put money into to your cars,so others can enjoy your expence?
https://cimg3.ibsrv.net/gimg/www.cor...eae0a6c0e.jpeg They dont look "bitchin", my 92 had them and I took them off. |
When I was working for the Government, I took my Vette over to England for 3 years. Put the amber turn lamps in the rear (outboard) to comply with the laws. The lamp in the rear under the bumper is a 21 watt rear fog light, also to comply with the law.
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7.../reartails.jpg When I returned home I kept the amber lamps but moved them inboard. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...rimlighter.jpg After a few years of that, I upgraded the lights to LED's, all red again. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...e/DSC00018.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...C00003%204.jpg |

Do these have to have additional (special) wiring run from the cabin, or is there some type of "module" that can used back at the tail lights? I'm wondering how easy it is to retrofit these. |

I didnt buy mine from Ecklers,I got mine from a dealer while they were fairly -affordable-. I made my own harness and the 91-96 lenses wont work without the split housing and these take specific bulb sockets. I think the AC Delco part number for the bulb sockets is LS39 and LS96. These are for a 91-96 application.

This is the Ideal set-up IMO
I like them because the stop lamps are completely separate from the turn siginal. You can have the turn signal on and the stop lights do NOT go out on that side when the amber lights flash for turn. That's one requirement the Euro cars have that I think actually makes sense. (never understood the rear fog light thing though.) |

(never understood the rear fog light thing though.) Not good when drivers accidentally leave that rear fog lamp lit as it's as bright as a brake light and quite annoying when not needed. It's supposed to turned on with a light near or in the dash so the driver knows that the rear fog is on. |
