Autocross and track day tires

It's time for new tires for my EB Z06. What's the consensus on the current best autocross/track day tires in standard Speedline wheel size? Also, what's the good alignment for autocross and track days? Thanks guys.

How much street driving / is the car also your daily driver?

My recommendation is to buy a set of four REAR C5 Z06 wheels in 18"X10.5". Then buy some real slicks from forum vendor GT race tires.
Now some here on our Forum will disagree, but I feel that seat time is more important than tires, so the reason for my recommendation is that street tires are expensive, and I can buy used slicks for $50ea to $200ea. I run cheap slicks in order to save my expensive street tires. You don't need huge tires. Slicks stick so much better that I happen to run 265X18 front and 285X18 rear and they have twice the stick of my 335X18 PS2s.

Try posting in the Autocross/Roadrace section. Also tire choice may depend on class and org that you are wanting to participate in.

Mark.

I have a separate DD so this probably sees at most less than 1,000miles of DD. Make sense to post in the autocross subforum. I will do that. Thanks guys.

I agree with everything you said. The only caution I would make is if you are new to the sport they give no audible feedback. So they basically go from having traction to nothing with no warning.

Not the best tire to start out on in that sense but great on the wallet.
