Thoughts on my next purchase 72,74 or 80
 

Hi guys-

I'm in the market for a C3. I have 3 years I'm keying in on.

First is a 71-72 convertible. Still has the chrome bumpers and is in more demand for resale than my next 2 choices.

Second is a 74 454. Last year of the 454 and first year of the plastic/rubber bumpers and still has some horsepower.

Third is the 80 because of the newer technology and the look. I know they aren't highly sought after for resale and the horsepower wasn't all that good.

Those cars are very different from each other, and it's not clear to me why you've homed in on those particular models. Why not a '72 with the 454? Or a '74 convertible? All the advice in the world won't tell you which of these cars you actually want to drive. You need to decide what you like, and then go for it.

The 72 454 might be a little more pricey and yes I should have said a 74 convert!

I agree with 454's thoughts and will add that if you were looking at examples of the 3 cars you listed that were each very similar condition you could be looking at quite different costs too.
So, does a budget enter in to this decision?
Also, a 454 70/71 convertible is a VERY different car than an 80 so it would be difficult to judge the merits of one against the merits of the other.
