C6 Steering Wheel Medallion
 

Is the round medallion in the center of the steering wheel in my 2010 a component of the airbag system or can it be safely removed? I want to replace it with a Jake emblem. If it can't be removed, I will have to refinish it and add a Jake decal. Any info is greatly appreciated!

OP, I believe it's just stuck on and has nothing to do with the airbag.

My car is a Grand Sport but I believe the steering wheel medallion is no different than any other C6. Like me, I think you would have to fabricate one.

My recollection from years ago is that it is part of the airbag cover and you should not try to remove it.

If you want to change it and/or repair a dent/scratch/etc, the easiest way to do it is to just glue a new or different center cap on top of the original.

Search for "steering wheel center cap" in C6 and there are many posts from owners that have done this.
