Never done business with them, but I know the owner Stephan from back in my Supra days. He has an extremely wicked 1200+rwhp Supra he used to run the TX Mile with.

I am friends with him on Facebook, and he has a LOT of pictures of the cars they dyno tune at SHP. Many Vettes and other LS-powered cars in addition to Vipers, Porsches, etc.

Houston: Talk to Jay at Strictly. IMO he is the best in that city with LS motors, esp. Vette's. He was the co-owner/founder of G Force. He built the first serious Texas mile CTSV cars. Last Corvette I saw from him put down over 1600... He is also one of the best guys I have ever known. True friend when it counts.

I was talking to Michael Delong today at SeriousHP they respond quick. I'm trying build my car run boost safely and trying figure out if I should run meth or e85. He suggested e85, but idk if its really need. G Force I have heard a ton of great things about them I sent all the parts I need install, but they still haven't gotten back to me.

Jay is no longer with G Force. He sold his part to Mikey. Jay is now with Strictly Performance. Sorry I cannot give an opinion on Serious HP. I ran a low ten second Z28 and knew most of the shops in the Houston area, but I don't think they were around back then. (2000-2008)

I never even heard of Strickly Performance. I looked it up last night the reviews for that shop is pretty horrible.

I've been to a dyno night at SHP but have never had a transaction with them. There are a ton of shops in Houston and it really pays to do your homework. Personally, when I needed my clutch done I made the drive to Victoria as I knew I could trust the person who installed it.

Where was that if you mind me asking? for when the time comes...I heard great things from franks vettes/vettech for repairs. I have heard of tons of performance shops (EnglandGreen, KP, AutoAdrenaline, SeriousHP, etc) but I have zero personal experiences with any of them. Black02 is right, keep asking around & searching reviews.

Kurt Decker / LSX Performance Dyno Tuning. I met him through Pat G, who did the specs on my cam.

Eating HP or car HP :hide::D, just playing Stephen. EnglandGreen or Franks Vettes are the two most honest and upfront with what you need or don't need without wasting your money. L8R ZFLASH P.S. Stephen, I might have another project for you in the near future since Frank doesn't mess with trucks

Ya it's all good I just needed a ton stuff done. The other shops are also repeatable. Difference is you charging like 10k and the other shops charging 5-6k.

I have used several of the local Houston shops through the years... They all have good and bad points... And some shops are better for certain jobs then others.

I won't go into details of my dealings with each shop, but here is a referral list based on my experience.

*Gforce--Don't use.
*Strictly-- DAMN SURE Don't use.... (although Jay is a great mechanic, nothing against him...., Richard on the other hand....)
*KP-- Would not use, google Honeycutt and 6 speeds Inc.
*LMR-- I would use them if I had bricks of cash falling out of my pockets.
*England Green- I would use again, I had great service from them and the price was fair for what I had done. Used them twice.
*Serious HP-- I haven't use them but have friends that have used them and had pretty good luck.
*510 Race Engineering-- Don't use
*ARD-- Damn sure don't use.
*Pat G in Victoria-- I would definitely use!

If I was going to use a shop right now, I would use MTI.... They have reopened, Jayson is back and Billy Whatley is there tuning.... Can't go wrong with those two.... I'm glad MTI is back...

Countless other shops here in Houston.... They all have had good and bad reviews so....do your homework, and they are all expensive.

I do all my own work now after getting burned from shops and paying crazy labor $$$.

GForce: I heard great things sent them my qoute never got back with me.
Strickly: looked into them had tons of horrible reviews.
KP: I looked into decent price, but I did look at there history and ya terrible. I'm not sure if there still like that though.
LMR: contacted never heard back.
England Green: contacted heard right back, but price was high.
Serious HP: contacted them and read up on them and seem to be a good shop. They quoted they quoted me a good price.

Which is why I made this forum to know more about SeriousHP.

I drove 500 miles from Florida to have EnglandGreen supercharge my C6. They do great work.

vertC6 03-12-2016 11:03 AM

I met with the guys at serious HP and was very impressed with their knowledge and not trying to sell me something. I've dealt with 1000 shops over the years and this is one of the few that really take the time to talk to you. From what I understand the tuner there came from the tuning school out of Florida. I plan to take my car there later this year.

As far as MTI, the jury still out a lot of people had a lot of bad experiences there years ago. Hopefully they cleaned up their act.
