Why does this seem like a big middle finger towards Z06 buyers? Think about it, they all spent (or most of them) around $90k-$100k for a track capable car that ended up having a few issues (still an awesome car btw), and then didn't really fix them. Now they're releasing a grand sport which looks to have everything the Z06 gets, but with a naturally aspirated engine (or at least we are guessing).

I'm still excited, but I didn't think Chevy would do something like that.

Call it, reactionary sales strategy. I personally didn't move on the Z06 (admittedly would've stretched me thin) because when it was supercharged, I saw it as the ZR1 successor, not the Z06.

That said, this GS will likely be the true Z06 successor, but only be in the realm of equal to C6Z or slightly beyond. 505hp though...I don't see it happening. Who knows though...we'll see soon.

I can say, I am a buyer for this car if it's done right...FO SHO.

Wider track and more rubber should be beneficial on high speed tracks as well, though I agree that nobody would complain if it got a power bump. LT2 and LT3 are still available codes between LT1 and LT4. ;)

Should but the gap would certainly be smaller as with the same power the narrowbody should be faster down the straights.

This is going to be a fun day! If that's it, looks like Cyber Gray (or something similar...Spiral Gray?) is making a comeback. Also looks like Cup2 tires on it as well.
The upside is that Geneva is 6 hours ahead of the East coast, so we'll know when we wake up tomorrow!

+1, A week before they announced Shark Gray was going away, I was told that from a pretty good source. At the time I didn't pay much attention to it. Then it happened. At the same time, I was told a darker gray, like Cyber Gray was coming back. Yes, it looks like that's what's under the cover. GOOD, dark gray is way too big a seller to get dumped. IMHO, the color of the car on display looks like it has more metallic than Cyber Gray, but is darker than Spiral Gray. Maybe I should have waited?

Spy pics would be cool... :-)

Both the Stingray and the GS will bet a hp bump. Vette has almost always been higher power than the Camaro, just sometimes one model year behind.

I'm interested in changes for the Z06 as well. 15/16 were basically identical. Does the '17 Z06 production delay until Sep mean that there will be significant changes? Could be. Hard to believe that model would stay basically unchanged for 3 model years.

Unfortunately it looks like the spats are still there.:ack:

i would think the 3+ month delay would occur since they will be using all the wide body panels to keep up with the demand for the GS in the beginning. I don't foresee much of a change for the 17 Z's

I'm not even slightly convinced most Z05 buyers want to track their cars.

As a former '10 GS Heritage owner and now a proud owner of a '14 Z51 Stingray, I welcome the anticipated announcement.

However, IMO, GM will need to keep the price difference between the Stingray Z51 and GS reasonable [$5K], otherwise if it approaches Z06 pricing, might as well opt for the Z06.

Also, in the C6 generation the GS replaced the Z51, maybe that is the plan for the C7, Stingray, GS, and Z06 [plus Zora] models.

Yeah I'd say 100% of Z05 buyers aren't doing anything with their cars.

If you meant Z06 then you'd also be right that most won't use the car appropriately and just want to have the most expensive model at the local car cruise.

Hopefully this will make the conversion cheaper.

I did not ever plan on buying another C7 but have to do the math on upgrade versus rebuy again.

Good thing I kept all my parts to move my C7 back to stock from the ECS kit.

Wait a year and time to trade up...

Great times for all Corvette enthusiasts, 2017 GS and new paint facility will be up and running for 2018 Vettes.

Doubtful... you still have to glue on new rockers and buy a new rear fascia.

Yep... will be good for me if I still want a base car, but I'll bet the Grand Sport will be exactly what I want.

If they offer it in Admiral Blue with a white strip I might have to sell an organ.
