Anyone else get sick of this question?

it seems like when I stop at the quik shop or wherever guys are checking my car out (I'm sure this happens to all of us since they are BADA55 cars)

At least once a month or so I get the same old question I got with my C6 "it that a Z06 or not?" Sometimes the guys are just asking to be nice but sometimes its almost like guys are trying to dog on the car since its not a Z06............

Yesterday a guy asked "is that a Z06?" (while we were both adding fuel) his tone wasn't exactly flattering so I said "no but it is supercharged" he says to me right back "YA, but its no Z06!!"

I wasn't in the best of mood's after that So after I topped the tank off I asked him "is your 1992 Honda civic an LX" he says no as he puts exactly $5 dollars in the tank and gets back in his rusted beater and the car smokes out the tail pipe as he drives away. kinda funny deal, I got a kick out of it. lol. :D paul

Great story.

I've had mine for 2 years and have been asked that question exactly zero times. Just a wild guess but perhaps your attitude has something to do with it.

I have found just the opposite. Many people could not tell the differences anyway but I have run into several that have the idea that the Stingray is the top model and the Z06 is a step down from the Stingray.

....and you really care what a guy in a Honda Civic thinks anyway????

Tell him, "It's better than a ZO6-it's a Z51!"

If anyone ever asked me that I'd just say "sure."

pjitty 03-02-2016 09:22 PM

Had a young kid ask if its a Z06. Told him no its a lowly Z51. Let him sit in the car anyway

If you took all of the badges off and added Ferrari, they would ask if it's a Testa Rosa.
If anybody says anything, I say that it's just a Chevy.

Blvdbrawler 03-02-2016 09:32 PM

I have a Z and most people ask me what kind of car is that?

stevebz06 03-02-2016 09:49 PM

A little respect for Honda Civics, please. I had a 93 beater and I got more looks from young kids. I thought I had just stumbled onto a car that had a strange attraction to a certain demographic but really they were just plotting to steal it. They succeeded once and broke into it a second time.

pickleseimer 03-02-2016 10:05 PM

Never been asked that. I do get questions from walk-up strangers on the CG stripes just about every time though. Strange what people see and ask about.

Easy fix:

OP, No I never have that situation. I get the "How much did it cost?" and "Did you cash in your entire 401K to buy that?"
But mostly just "Really Nice Vette".

rcooper 03-02-2016 11:16 PM

I get the " How much", nice car and thumbs up a lot. The kids all know it's a Stingray, everyone else just says "Nice"....'cause they don't have a clue what it is.

owc6 03-02-2016 11:26 PM

The only time(s) someone asked me if it's a Z06 was when I was driving my Z06. Those few actually knew something about the car.

I've never been asked this, otherwise. My observation is that the vast majority couldn't tell the difference between generations, let alone models.

4thC4at60 03-03-2016 12:09 AM

Both of my cars usually illicit a "Beautiful car..." I smile and say, "Thanks."

thank you, perhaps. I'll work on that. just a thought here but I think if most guys would of been there and heard the guy and the tone of his comment's most would of responded with more then a have a nice day. My fault for not taking the higher road and handling it with a "thank you sir and have a nice day" and thank you again I do need to work on my attitude for sure and represent our community better. I'll work on it :cheers:

No offense to the civic just maybe the condition of it. Sorry if that offended you, my apologize. The civic and the accord like my wife had years back are getting stolen left and right aren't they. guess the parts off those things are easy to sell

good point, most guys look at me and think the same thing. BTW I sold my oldest child just to get the down payment on mine :D 1,252 payments and it's all mine

this is very true as well, but you would think the C7 stands alone.... I guess they all look the same to most people, but that's kool:cheers:
