86 rim/tire size question

Hi all.
I have an 86 4+3. I need tires and came across a set of 4 rims and tires off a 95. They are the OEM rims for that year (17" saw blades). The tires are Nitto NT 555.
The rears are 285/40 ZR 17
The fronts are 255/45 ZR 17

The question is, will these fit on my 86 without modification? What modification would be required if necessary?

Thanks
Joe

No. The offset is different. You have to use spacers. I've heard 3/4" - 1".

The offset is different by about 3/4".

I understand that they will fit without spacers, but will look too far inboard.

I had 1.25" adapters when I put those wheels on my '85. That is as big of a spacer as I would want to try. The rears fit very well, but the fronts were at the limit I would want (almost too far out). I was using 8.5" wide fronts, and I think if 9.5" fronts, it would have been too much.

Although 0.75" or 1" adapters might be the best for fitting, I went with the 1.25" because they would clear the lug studs for use with any wheels. I think the stock late sawblades have recessed areas in the mounting pads so that if the stud sticks through the adapter a little it may still fit into the recess on the wheel. You might want to measure the studs and the wheel recesses to make sure.

This was my '85 with the late sawblades (mine were from a '94, but they are the same as the '95's.) I used 8.5" fronts and 9.5" rears.
