Fitment on rear axle for drag wheel/tire

I am looking to put a set of aftermarket drag wheels on my rears of the car. thinking of putting 17" on but wanting to know what kind of offset would be necessary so there's no rubbing.? Looking at the drag stars..but open for other ideas. Any of you guys have pics of your wheels with a description of what you have?

Try posting in the Force Induction/Nitrous forum.... a lot of guys there have put on drag wheels such as drag stars or Weld wheels.

I looked into getting drag stars at one point in time.... pretty sure if you go with the 17x9.5 wheels with 7.3" backspacing, 275/40/17 or 275/45/17 drag radials fit really well.

As a reference... its pretty popular for guys to run front Z06 wheels on the rear as a poor man's drag pack, and run the tire sizes I mentioned above.

Front Z06 wheels are 17X9.5" with 7.38" backspacing, which is virtually the same size as the drag stars, and I believe Weld wheels are offered in size very similar to that also.

I ended up finding a set of Mallet 18x9.5 and 18x11 wheels, and put 305/35/18 Nitto N555r drag radials on them... really happy with the setup, good traction and good street manners. A 17" wheel with a more aggressive drag radial would hook better at the expense of handling.

Thanks for the info! I am going to look into that. Seems like a cheaper way to go and I am all about that ha
