Hello everybody,
I own a 1989 Z51 with manual trans mission. I am trying to find out what the cars original paint color was. What number or letter in the code tells me the color. 1g1yy2182k5125141. Thank you Joe |
None of the above. There is a RPO sticker that list all options and colors for the car. I think for your year it's under one of the storage bins

Check under the center console lid or the passenger side storage compartment lid. If the SPID sticker (also called the RPO sticker) is there, look at the very bottom line. There will be a 6-digit code that starts with "WA". Post that number.
You may want to pull back a section of carpet and look for overspray. The body shell was painted before any interior parts were installed. |

L9567 = Lower - White U9567 = Upper - White 212 is interior = Blue Thank you. It is still white. The car needs paint I am stripping all of the paint off. There are some body repairs and some peeling paint. And the hood looked like it was black paint underneath the tan/yellow coating. So I was wondering if it was black at one time. Thank you. Stripping it is so tough. I was using Citristrip with some success. But, it is 50 degrees her in NJ and the Citristrip needs at least 70 degrees to work. Once again thank you |
The underhood paint done at the factory is a semi-flat black. Just use a single-stage paint.
