Remove chrome Stingray badge?

Hi folks. Finally traded my 2001 Coupe for a 2016 version. The chrome stingray badge on the sides breaks up and hurts the design for me. I'm thinking of removing it using dental floss and a solvent, like I removed the body side moldings on my 91. Has anyone done this? If so are there any caveats (like a hole to locate the badge) I should watch out for?
Photoshop with/without attached. Color is Shark Grey.
Thank you for your help. GM

Nope, a heat gun and some directed force will pull it right off. Double-side tape is all that holds it on. Check my sig pic.

Congrats on the new Stingray!

There are no holes to worry about. Dental floss or heavy fishing line will do the trick. You may want to apply some gentle heat to the area (such as with a blow dryer) before the operation; doing so will soften the adhesive and make it easier to remove all of it. WD40 works well in removing lingering adhesive residue.

Thanks for all the advice! Much obliged.

You might want to consider using the Corvette carbon flash stingray. Fits your car well.

Does look nice and clean with it removed.

Mine came off minutes upon arriving home from the museum.

I removed the "CORVETTE" badge from the butt as well. IMO, less is more.

Thanks for the photos....now I know I don't want to remove the letters...
In this case, less is actually less..:yesnod:
Why not just take the Corvette emblems off too?

Removal of factory stock badges should be outlawed since the car will no longer be factory stock!!!!:D

I did it to let you know NOT to remove your letters. :D To each his own . . . Live and let live . . . etc.

Actually, it's the opposite of what I did on my C5 which was to add the inset SS letters when I first got it. After all these years, I realized how much I don't like them and they will be coming off as I complete the transformation of that car.

Please try not to let this ruin your day. :blueangel:

I removed the fish and the Corvette script across the rear. I sprayed around them with WD40 and let it sit for 30 minutes. They literally popped off with no glue residue.

Fishing line and dental floss work but tend to leave the rubbery adhesive which can be a PITA to get off.

I did take mine off right away so they may not have been really stuck down.

blueray16 05-05-2016 07:44 PM

I too removed the fish the same day I got the car home.

Dental floss and WD-40 worked just fine.

Still debating on the Corvette script on the back.
