Twin Turbo exhaust setup
What are you guys running on your twin turbo setups or turbo setups in general? I have a TT car running straight 3 inch out the back through a breathless defuser. It sounds amazing and the turbos hum through the exhaust at idle but it drones pretty bad. I have some 3 inch borla XR1 mufflers but I am scared they might kill the sound a little too much. I was thinking about adding an x-pipe and some vibrant race mufflers or resonators.
Would love to see what other people have done. |
I'll be copying my friend, JDS99 (Jon) running 3.5" exhaust all the way out with cool copy of the Corsa Extreme method which uses a Hemholz resonator as a muffler that's tee'd off the side of the pipes. It's worked very well for them.

Is there room for that setup with a c6?

DMC Racing did mine. From the turbos to the mufflers its 3 inch stainless that was made to be sectional using V-bands. They were able to fit it all around the 4L80e swap which is no easy task. Having it sectional is absolutely amazing, but not cheap.
My mufflers are left over from the old exhaust that was 2.5inch. They are a one off set of Ti mufflers from Borla so replacing them was not really an option. Car is whisper quiet with the mufflers on. DMC also made a set of stainless 3inch straight pipes so I can delete the muffler restriction at the track. http://i722.photobucket.com/albums/w...pspqvubsvf.jpg http://i722.photobucket.com/albums/w...ps4f5senvy.jpg http://i722.photobucket.com/albums/w...pspniwcwqf.jpg http://i722.photobucket.com/albums/w...psw4ua9epz.jpg - Travis |
3" downpipes, 3" C6Z x-pipe, 3" over the axle tailpipes. Drone is controlled with these custom built Helmholtz resonators.

The exhaust is only dual 3 inch. Figured it would work best to keep it consistent rather that step up at the muffler and step down.

I meant all the way back

may i ask whats the smell like without the cats?wanna know before i start my new 3 inch exhaust
|
It smells...for me it was bad but I run a bit rich. I’d go into the office in the morning and people would ask if I just came from a garage due to the smell on my clothes. Cats today are pretty efficient. It was worth losing a few hp to keep them on.
