What is best tilt-up trailer for a ZR-1?
 

I am looking for a tilt-up trailer for my 2010 ZR-1. Is there a make/model with a low enough tilt angle that won't scrape, or break, the front carbon fiber attachment? Will the Sloan Kwik Load trailer work? Or?

The enclosed trailer I have I need 60" long ramps to transition to the rear trailer ramp door and then the rear part of the floor is a beaver tail, even with that much ramp to drive in its still really close.

Backing in makes it worse as the weight transfer causes front end drop.

You might have to get ramps even with a decent tilt trailer.

You can use the Reverse Logic trailer ramp calculator at http://www.reverselogic.us/race-ramps.html to estimate the car-to-trailer clearance.

The first entry is for the trailer ramps without Race Ramps. The calculator handles existing ramps up to 11 feet long. So you would use the height of the tilt trailer deck 11 feet from the rear edge with the trailer tilted to the ground as the trailer deck height in the calculator.

Open- Sloans Kwikload has taken my Zr1 all over the place... I still use 2 18" long pieces of wood to be "safe" and not scrape the center nose of the carbon splitter.

Any trailer can be made to work with long enough ramps (Race ramps are the bees knees) but with the sloans, the 18" wood piece fit in the storage compartment of the trailer and make life super easy....

Use an 18' kwikload for my M3 race car, and need extra ramps to avoid splitter contact. Similar clearance to my Z06... Sloans says a 20' deck provides a shallow enough angle to avoid interference.

I was in the same situation last year. Everyone I talk to told me that I still needed additional wood even with the Kwik Load (which is the lowest tilt/rollback) for the ZR1 or Z06. I bought a 20ft w/a 4ft dovetail and some race ramps and saved more than 4,000.00. Takes less than 10 minutes for me and my wife to load and strap down. More parts for the ZR1 with money saved right? Haha!

These trailers are amazing, just a bit pricey and hard to find a use one

I had a Wells Cargo hauler that I picked up my new Z06 in Ohio and brought it back to So. Cal. It had the additional door on the driver side for easy exit out of the car and side of the trailer. I've been looking at the new Mission trailers now but they start at 17k and go up from there.

I have an ATC Quest 305 24’ enclosed dovetail and I use raceramps with it and there is no problem with scraping on my 2011 Z07 which has the same set up with the splitter as your ZR1.

I too have a Z06 w Z07 pkg with the ZR1 style splitter (now a Katech splitter). I purchased a 22' Sundowner open trailer with 5' ramps and use Race Ramps and loading and unloading is easy.

:eek: deck that thing out completely and it'll be half the cost of the ZR1 your towing!

It looks like the lowest profile race ramps are 67 inches long. The actual ramp part being about 60 inches and a 5 inch rise which is about 1 inch per foot.
Is that enough for a Z or ZR-1 with a factory ZR-1 splitter at stock height then make it the rest of the way up a U-haul car trailer without hitting?

I bought the RR TR 8XL Race Ramps, they are 74” long and work very well with my Z07.

The 67" RR-XT-2 ramps have a 10.8 degree incline. They are not the most shallow sloped service Race Ramps available. The RR-80-10-2 ramps have an 8.5 degree incline. The two-stage incline RR-72-2 ramps have a 6.8 degree initial incline. There are also some custom Race Ramps available through Reverse Logic that also have a 6.8 degree initial incline. The RLL-80-2 ramps have a 9" high cradle-top platform, and the RLL-87-2 ramps have a 10" high platform section.

Some service ramp models are "combination" designs that have an incline section that can be used as a trailer ramp. The RLL-80-2 and RR-80-10-2 are in this category. If you attempt to use the incline sections of the RR-XT-2 ramps you will almost certainly damage the ramps after a few uses. Trailer ramps and the incline sections of the combo ramps are reinforced on the steps where a trailer ramp or door rests on the ramps.

The RR-TR-8XL ramps mentioned above have a 6.6 degree incline, which is close to the incline section of the RLL-80-2.

I have a Futura Trailer - still have to use RaceRamps though - but have a TIKT splitter that sticks out more than OEM. The trailer has a cable system that lowers the back to the ground - tried to upload a video, no luck.

the have open deck tilt trailers and offer 2-3-4-5' beaver angle on the back,and lengths of 18-20-22-24-26',,,

and 6''-12'' wider sides
and wood or metal floors
and probably 2--5200lb axles [for bigger bearings][15'-e/range tires] then you wont need new tires every year
