Help--Removing trim restorer

Well, I made the biggest mistake ever on my car. After washing it on Monday, and a little light touch-up with a clay bar, I decided it needed a coat of sealant. I grabbed my bottle of Blackfire Wet Diamond and proceeded to apply. After applying it to my roof, hood, and one front fender, I noticed that it seemed slicker than I had remembered, and didn't appear to be drying. I looked at the bottle, and my stomach dropped to my knees--I had grabbed the wrong bottle!!:willy:

What I thought was Backfire Wet Diamond was actually Blackfire Total Trim and Tire Sealant. I grabbed a microfiber towel and tried to remove it---no go. I was headed out to a 4th of July party, so I had to leave the car in the garage, and get to it the next day. So yesterday, I washed it with a very concentrated wash solution. As I was washing, it felt like the sealant was coming off, but when I dried, it was still a smeary mess. I then tried a bit of isopropyl alcohol on a microfiber towel to test a spot, but that didn't work, either.

Does anyone have any suggestions? I haven't broken out my random orbital buffer on it yet, but that may need to be the next step. If you think that would work, which pad and product would you suggest?

Sorry to hear about your issue ... you should be able to remove it with another wash and a strong soap or perhaps higher soap concentration. If you plan to reapply the wax/sealant anyways, you can also use a solvent based cleaner as desired. Just rewash after use to remove any residue from the product.

One of the items I always keep in my personal collection that might just work for this issue .... its a citrus based APC. While it wont help now, certainly something to consider when possible. Perhaps you have something similar ??

OPC
Diluted apc

Might even try iron-x

the ultimate soap is laundry detergent- wear gloves, it will pull all of the oil out of your skin.

That said, the trim dressing is probably a silicone type. It doesn't last very long on trim, I don't see why it won't wear off of your paint too.
