C6 Battery Cover

The battery in my 05 looked really messy. On line battery covers are $100 plus $13 shipping. Not wanting to drop that much for a cover I decided to make my own.

The before pics: :ack:

Found a battery box that was in decent shape

A little elbow grease, sand paper and paint and this is the finished project:

The finished cover installed:

Cost was $6 for battery box, $4 for paint and $7 for emblem. Total $17.

Good job Ben.

I have a airbrushed one from Steve Ray but the velcro gets too hot and melts. Then it moves around and damaged the paint. :(

Also had to remove my custom etched black chrome plenum cover as the velcro would not hold. Guess the headers where too much for them. :D

After I trimmed the battery box to fit, I drove about 100 miles with it on to see if it would stay in place. Kept an eye on it and it stayed put.The top (now bottom) edge of the box has a lip that protrudes about a quarter of an inch. The front side is placed between the battery and the battery cables which holds it securely. No velcro.
