C6 cooling issues need suggestions
I have a 2007 c6 with an Lq9 408 stroker with an 88 mm front mount turbo. 700hp on gate at 14 psi. Just got the car back so I haven't had alot of time driving it. Haven't had it to the track yet or anything just in town and highway pulls. I understand I'm going to have some heat issues no matter what but I'd really like to be able to drive it around town without having to worry about heat issues. Right now it's getting over 245 when heat soaked and in town driving. I know the intercooler is blocking airflow I have a large radiator with 2 large spal fans. Water and water wetter only. I'm down to 2 options either an electric water pump / electric booster pump or moving the radiator to the rear of the car. Does anyone have any ideas or suggestions? Thank you.

post pictures of it n i would suggest making a tubed front and spacing the Intercooler n radiator a bit

this setup looks pretty similar to shlbykller's does he run into cooling issues too?

I would cut holes in the front of the support beam in between the Intercooler n radiator and maybe in the bumper if That doesn't help or eliminate the front beam all together for a tube or smsller beam n then for stop n go traffic you could add external coolers maybe one for oil n run one together with the radiator and place them both on the fog light bents

I have changed my turbo setup about 4 times now so I have a fair amount of knowledge about what is happening..
Basically right now you just have 0 flow to the radiator. With everything stacked like that the fans cannot pull through it. With the oem layout the radiator is tilted and is relying on high/low pressure zones to draw air through the radiator. When you stand them up like that you are relying on the air to go through the little 22x4" hole in grill, then through a 3" core(at the least) and then an ac condensor, then a radiator. With my latest setup(http://derale.com/products/electric-...-gasket-detail), which is standing up like yours, I was able to get a big enough fan setup on the car to bring the temps down at idle but at speed it just isnt enough. |

what fans are on there? There is a big difference between a fan that "flow" 3000cfm at 5amp and a 1500cfm at 25amps. Amps are what will cool, not the cfm.

I would suggest looking for a better fan setup. I know you are lacking space but I would see if you can find something better. maybe could squeeze these - http://derale.com/products/electric-...4-08-14-detail |
Ya the problem is there is absolutely no way I could get 2 of those on my radiator. Surely 2 of the one I have would be better than one of those right?
|
Some have had good luck with brushless fans like D3PE uses.
|
The d3 kit looks like it uses the exact fans I'm using already?
|
It does, doesn't it. I thought they were using different fans but maybe I've got it mixed up

I think in that size that is about the best you are going to do unfortunately. Maybe some thin pushers on the front? At one point I had these in between my ac condenser and intercooler -
