Curious if super duty velco would work instead of the tape. Making it removable?

Our removable version attaches with two wing nuts, very simple

I have a 2012 GS. My state requires the front plate. I'm having a hard time coming to grips with placing the OEM plate holder on the fascia of the car. The local Chevy garage told me that the OEM plate holder with just the sticky tabs will not hold the plate mount and plate and that I would have to drill the three holes in the body for a guaranteed hold. they want 90 bucks for the mounting plate too. It's cheap looking ect... I came across your set up and have a few questions. What's the difference between the base and the GS/Z06 mount? Is there a difference in the grill opening? From what I can tell your set up will allow the mount to physically touch the bottom of the grill opening, thus you supply foam tape to lessen the touch factor. If the plate gets pushed in, am I looking at screw divets in the fascia if this happens? Any in put would be greatly appreciated.

The difference is the GS and Z06 have less dept in the grill area. The license plate holder is attached with VHB strips, no screws/no drilling. The bottom of the license plate bracket has a 3/8 thick foam strip to prevent any damage to the painted surface if it were to make contact, typ there is a 1/8 gap between the foam and the bumper surface
