For those who have wrapped their cars please step in.
 

First how much did you pay? I know there are going to be factors for each car but I wanted to get a ballpark figure. The reason i ask is I have alot of scratches and stuff on my car some of them into the fiberglass.

My top and b pillar is already wrapped and I have a carbon fiber hood. The bottom of the rear fascia is already wrapped. So i would just need the front/rear fenders both doorsand the front clip and half the rear bumper.

Prices can vary quite a bit. I would just go to several trusted shops and get quotes. Check references too.

Wraps look good along with dipping a car when done right. Flame suit is on.

I have 3M clear wrap on about 75% of my C7 and you cannot tell where it ends unless I point it out or you get a few inches away in the right light. Also, the installer wrapped every edge he could to do the job properly. It's expensive but definitely worth it.

yeah I was just curious of prices. Gonna call the guy tomorrow. I figured it should be about 60-70% of the price since almost half is already wrapped plus the hood and rear already done. And how you doing man hows that c7 treating you?

Dip it, it is easier and WAY cheaper (a LOT less labor intensive). There are some insane colors available, I have a buddy with a blue chameleon dipped GTR that is a real head turner. He did it himself in under 2 hours for less than $200 in materials.

I'm not a big fan of dips unless maybe interior pieces. Plus I think with some of the deep scratches you would see it. i wanted to see who wrapped their cars and what they paid. Just so i can go in with a price in mind vs getting it painted.

I met a guy at West Coast Corvettes recently who dipped his C5 in a medium olive green and it looked amazing. Two years old, and the dip looked brand new. He had it done for $450. Man, I loved the look. Not a lot of money to completely transform a corvette, and then one day you can start peeling it all off and go back to your original paint.

Here's Danny's GT-R. And I will say the pictures don't come close to just how stunning it is in person. Blue base with chameleon top coat.

Also you can't touch up a wrap, but you can easily touch up a dip.

Like any thing in this world when done properly you will be happy with it and when done wrong you will not be. Wraps are great for a bunch of reasons and my favorite reason is that it protects your paint from the damage of sun and weather.

Well I called a few wrap places and I think I'm gonna pass. I called that guy that wrapped my top and b pillar a few years back and he's out the game. he said he invested in some dip but never got into it. He is back into doing high end detailing. he said he had this color he will sell me for cheap Now the more I look into dips the more I'm liking..
i am really digging this color this is what he has that I can get for a deal.

3 gallons of dip = $140

This is the 4th time he has dipped his car since he bought it. He finally found a color combo he is happy with. But the whole process is less than 4 hours from start to finsih including mask and peel. Best part is you don't even have to mask much off (notice his tail lights) because you just run a razor blade along the edge and peel off what you don't like. If you are unhappy with how one panel sprayed, you can peel and reshoot it quick.

<edit> I was seriously skeptical until he did his. The idea of being able to do a full color change in a half day is just too good to pass up for me. Wraps are cool, but it takes a LONG TIME TO DO RIGHT.

Look up DipYourCar on youtube and their sites. I'm planning on attempting to dip my car this winter, if I mess up I will learn from mistakes and do it again and still come out drastically ahead financially than if I had done wrap or real paint.

yeah i'm looking at it now. I guess when i think plastidip i was thinking about the black spray can stuff. I mean there is some crazy stuff out there!!! I think I wanna try this!!! I'm no baller liek some of you folks and I do all teh work on my car so it would be cool to learn this.. Only issue Im wondering is what happens if you have drips and have to touch up after? I'm just thinking out loud Im sure the DYC youtube page has this info. i sent them an email inquiring about that sapphire blue with gloss

No, he bought the Harbor Freight sprayer I linked and bought just bought the gallons of dip (not sure if he got it from dyc or somewhere else). He actually used only 2 gallons, one base and one pearl, but hos hood and trunk are raw carbon, so he doesn't shoot those. I am going to use 2 gallons of base and 1 pearl topcoat.

<edit>I have to get my nose fixed first (some jackass backed over it when I was parked). I am thinking of doing the tigershark nose. But once it is straight, I'll dip it.

Yeah Ill look into that then because I have my stock hood I can practice on. I looked at dyv and they have base colors I assume you have to mix to make those special colors like that sapphire? I sent them an email but I think I'm gonna try spraying.

Sorry to hear about the front end, You could use that as a tester. Well considering it can peel off I guess you can use any part as a tester. When Danny shot it the first time out of the 4 was tha this first time spraying with a gun?
