Problems with M/T 335-25-20
 

Hi,
New here as well as new Z06 owner.
I was wondering if anyone else has tried the M/T 335-25-20 et/ss
drag radials, and if so any problems with them?
I mounted a set last week keeping the stock runflats on front.
On the street at highway speeds i noticed a little more compliance in the rear, as would be expected, however on my first roll on the freeway, 60-120 mph [track mode t/c on tire pressure @ 32 cold]
the car went into a violent sway ( much like trailer sway) that only got worse until i let out of it. Tried repeating the exact same thing with the same results.

Yes, MT ET Street SS 20" are evil. Throw them away. They almost killed me a few times. Putting power to them over 40mph generally prompted an unwanted lange change. Which sucks on a single-lane highway.

Call MT (search for threads under my name, I've posted the contact info), they should take them back. They seem to know about the issue as they gave me zero grief and accepted a return with them being well over a year old in my case. And Summit even paid the return shipping.

So, a terrible product backed by outstanding service.

I wound up going to a 19" replica wheel with Nitto 345-20s.

i was probably the first one on here to use this tire and as i stated last year someone is going to get hurt with this tire get rid of them

Yeah, bad product from MT. If they were a bigger company, there would be a recall. Use their 18" DR's, they work great for drag racing or limited street use.

If you need a street summer tire, the Cup 2's work well once hot.

They are not good. I did the 18 inch versions and had he same issue.

MT gave me my money back. Bought R888s from toyo

How were they on the balancer?Try 26 up front,23 in the rear.

in my experience too much air in a drag radial makes this happen. coupled with the hard shouldered and wide stock front tires on the vette is a bad combination

i run around with mine at 15-18psi and non-run flat front tires with no stability issues at all (325-19" MT)

what size did you go with, I would love the new toyo r888r's , but they only in the past made 315 in the rear and I need 335 25 20, now ive been calling them and they said there will be more sizes available on the new r888r but cant tell me yet, after sema they will release it. my boss has a 1500hp gtr and has the r888s and the car hooks, I want them..

I agree 100% Iv even got the stock fronts to work with lower pressure,still a tad unstable at 120+mph runs but somewhat managable.1st -4th they work amazing for me unless the road is rough.

Yeah, Forum Vender House of Wheels out of FLA offer knock off C7 Z rims in 18 x 12, chrome or gloss black for $599 shipped (can't beat that).

You then want to go with Hoosier drag radials that mount right up to those in size 315/30-18. That is the trick set-up that guys are having the most success with. You can find a more expensive lighter rear rim in 18 inches if you want to but that will cost you considerably more $.

I wish I went this route I went with Nitto drags on 19 inch C7 Z knock off rims and the the set-up I lay out above would have been better for more consistent 60 foot times, Hoosiers also need way less of a burnout/heat, and the Hoosiers are not as tall as the Nittos, so the Hoosiers will help an A8 to shift later in the rpm band (not short shift), and will give you a better trap speed. :cheers:

does anyone know where to buy a pair of 335/25-20 drag tires for a 2019 Z06. can't find anyone who manufactures them..
