There will be 6 (or more) 2020 C8 Corvettes on display during this year's event. You will be able to sit in the vehicles and check them out closely. We are excited and hope you are too!!

I registered last week for the event. There are still a few motels left in the area at about half the price of the "recommended" hotels on your website. I don't imagine the rooms will last long -- had a hard time finding a place to stay the last time I attended, so booked early this time.

Good idea. The closer you get to the fairgrounds, the more the hotels gouge the attendees. We stayed in Scotland last year because our usual hotel wen to a 3 night minimum and went from $129 to $179 a night. 2017 we'll be at the Country Inn and Suites thanks to my son.
Looks like I may be hitting the Chevrolet Nationals as well just out of curiosity since they changed the name from GM Nationals.
Carlisle is always a good time. Only bad thing is that we enjoy it so much that we can't wait to go, but when it's over, summer is just about over.
I wish there was some kind of 1 day show for fun in May to tide us over till the big show. :thumbs:

Actually there is a show at the end of April that kicks the riding season off for us. It's the Birthday Bash at the National Corvette Museum in Bowling Green, KY. We go every year and have a great time -- for 2017 it will be on April 27th through April 29th.

I have my tickets already! And I can't wait since it's 19 degrees outside right now!

Took advantage of the discount and picked up a showfield pass for the Chevy Nationals too.

Just curious about the reserved section and Chip's circle. Will not be coming in til Friday, so would like reserved so that we get a good spot, but in the ticket info it talks about 2 days of "celebrity choice judging" so that does that mean we are signing up to be judged? We have a base stingray, so don't want to be judged and don't want to feel dumb parked next to all the cool cars! LOL!! Can anyone explain what this means?

Also, do most people go to the dinner Fri night?

No worries buddy. The "judging" is just for fun by celebrity judges. I've seen barn finds with barely any paint on them get a celebrity pick. We did the Chips Circle last year and it included the dinner. It was very nice, and the fact that we got lunch all four days was a bonus since we didn't have to walk around and wait in lines to eat. I believe I read that the lunch is only on Friday and Saturday this year. Dinner Friday night was prime rib and pasta. Very good and plenty of everything to go around. There were probably 100 people there. Plus it included a tour of the Miller garage of cars. This year we're opting just for reserved parking and already have our assigned spot number. The two day judging thing just means that it increases your chance of getting a celebrity pick, because they normally only do it on Saturday.
It just depends on how much money you want to spend. If you go to the dinner Friday night, there is a silent auction and a live auction and some of the items go for $1000's. Fun to watch though. You'll need a nice shirt, recommend no hat.

Plan on around $140 - $180 a night for a close hotel. Some require a 3 night minimum now since the show went to 4 days. The farther out you go, the less you'll pay. There are some nice hotels in Scotland (close to Chambersburg) that are around $80 a night. We stayed at the new Super 8 there last year and it was really nice. Easy drive out 81, but it's about a half hour drive and there aren't many places to eat out that way without going into Chambersburg.
We'd be staying there again this year but managed to snag a free room closer thanks to our son's hotel points.

The wife and I are thinking about attending this event. Thanks in advance.

Has anyone stayed at Days Inn North or Super 8 North? Last year we stayed at Days Inn - Chambersburg but looking to get a little closer this year.

Wondering if they are decent places?

The VIP package is very nice. You can request where you want to park. We did the VIP thing last year (just doing reserved this year) and we asked for a spot facing Gate 3 that way we look at cars and not the swap meet. You can call the office and ask them for a spot facing Gate 3 if you didn't already. The lunches are fantastic and it's nice not having to walk everywhere and fight with people to eat. There's plenty of free water and snacks available all days too. But be sure you have your credentials on you. The dinner Friday night is excellent. Last year was prime rib and pasta. No complaints here. Cash bar. There's a silent auction after dinner in addition to a regular auction (some things go for thousands). You don't have to bid on anything. It's fun to watch and see how high things go for. Ladies don't have to "dress up", but should look presentable, same with the guys. We didn't do the parade because we leave for home around 4 on Saturday, but I hear it's a must do at least once. All told, the Chips VIP parking is the way to go at least once. Oh, and be SURE not to miss the garage tour on Friday. You'll be amazed at the collection. :cheers:
