C7 Z06 cabin smell

Only 3,000 miles and the new car smell is gone. I have to turn A/C on to get rid of stingy cabin. Any ideas!!

Thank God, new car smell is awful. Chances are if the cabin smells stingy....its you.

lol... what does it smell like?????? should smell like fiberglass.. and leather

Stingy or stinky? Hopefully you don't have a mouse camped out (dead) on your cabin filter like I did.

Park it with the windows open if possible.

Fabreeze works wonders. Also treat your leather

Check for water leaks. Sniff carpeting to find the moldy mildew smell.

How often do you fart in your car? Elevate the butt cheek when you fart, otherwise, the gas gets trapped into the perforated seats and stays there.

I've had mine for a year with 5200 miles on it and it still has the new car smell. It sounds like you may have some mildew build up in the HVAC system. Is the HVAC blower setup to after blow so it evaporates moisture in the HVAC after the car is shut off?

Don't turn on the A/C.

Mine's an 18 month old convertible and it's still got it if I park it with the top up. They're trying hard to eliminate this smell, as it's probably not good for you - just the outgassing of dyes, glues, plastics and vinyls.

I personally still love the smell (particularly BMW for some reason, and each brand is different). Don't you remember the movie "Christine"?
"That's just about the finest smell in the world...except maybe for..." well, you know.

So true. That's good advice that will keep your resale value up.

Easy fix. Just make sure the A/C is turned on fresh air mode, not recirculate. This keeps the vents open to the outside of the car allowing fresh, dry air to come in and evaporate the condensation inside the vent system. If you leave the A/C in recirculation mode when you shut the car down, the air remains trapped inside the vent system and begins to rot. Huge issue in Phoenix since we run our A/C about ten months of the year.

After owning my 2015 for a year and a half, my wife tells me this car (compared to 7 others we own) "stinks". I can only say that the car does not have the "leather smell" of my other cars, but I find the smell more or less neutral. Point being, we all smell something different and all have our preferences/tolerances. Best

Picked mine up in March, and it still smells like it did when it was delivered.
