Who wins this battle of the baddest supercharged V8s, the C7 Corvette Z06 or the Jaguar F-Type SVR? Read the rest on the Corvette Forum homepage. >> |
I'm always looking for the "perfect" sound. This is close but I would like the Jag sound on deceleration and the corvette for everything else (but maybe it bit louder).
Just my choice ...:lurk: (Oh, the Corvette butt rules!) |
I actually won this contest at a stop light the other night. Or at least the Jag owner conceeded that I did. But I've got a cam and no more cats, so it might not have been fair.
|
That Jag sounds horrible.
|
I have borla x-pipe and magnaflow exhaust on my Z and imo the exhaust is as good as it gets for a v8 with a stock cam. Its absolutely nasty
|
Who can tell anything from this video? The audio quality absolutely stinks. It's hitting the limiter so hard it's distorting.
Next. |
The Jag sounds broken every time you rev it. I know it's supposed to sound that way, but for me it's far from an ideal sound. The Z06 just sounds wicked like a V8 should.
|
Z6 ftw
|
The SVR uses a titanium exhaust. My F Type R does not and sounds way better than this audio clip. I get the joy of both exhaust systems. I do plan to change out the Z06 to Borla ATAK in the spring. The Jag will remain stock.

That jag overrun is obnoxious, artificial, and ever more nauseating over time. No contest here.
|
To me the F type wins. I've heard that car from behind it a few times and on decel the sound is awesome. However, this is the Corvette forum.
|
I've seen/heard them in person. The boxster/cayman does this overrun crackle now too. Jag even admitted to purposely dumping fuel into the exhaust to make it happen for aesthetics only. After about 3 min of driving around it's more embarrassing than cool.

It would be cool if you uploaded a clip of your F-Type and Z06(with better audio than this clip has) so we could hear the comparison.

Neither... Hellcat wins.

I like them both but agree that 'breaking up' in the SVR would get old over time. Is the Jag programmable like the Z?

I didn't articulate it well but you can read all about it here:
