I'm kinda bummed that original owner's sons were not interested in it...my Dad just completed the passing on of our '60. Of course, our '60 very much drivable compared to a car that sat for 40 years and was infested with mice!

Just think what it smelled like with mice and raccoons and other animals in and out of it living there. It will take 2 years or more just to get rid of the smell. :yesnod:

Absolutely! I bet most of us here would not take it if they gave it to us for free in THAT condition!

Joking aside, that's a problem I would not mind having.

And let's say the potential purchaser is competent enough to do everything except machine work, paint, upholstery and the obvious outsource items like plating....

What would be the highest price he/she should offer??

most individuals and restoration shops would have the side curtains and windshield assembly restored by a specialist. add that cost to a restored radio and speaker assembly with the correct antenna and ground wire and you have an expense of $7500 for just these items. an early corvette purchased in the Detroit area, in my opinion, might be linked to some early testing. I think the purchaser will restore this car with that in mind. if so we probably will not see a radio, although I do believe the car originally had one. the antenna wire can be seen in the picture of the trunk area. also hubcaps, front oval, trunk mat add $3000

I think the price would be more the $120K a lot more if it has all the documents proving it was a race car. A lot more. :yesnod:

I did not see any mention of this being a race car in the article. It looked stock to me.

What a great find! I was just under the dash tearing everything out of my 61. All the while thinking about how all old cars all smell the same as the grit and dirt fell in my face. The as I removed the rocker panel supports I really got the taste of 55 yards of dirt accumulation. I can't imagine that a restoration shop could even do a correct frame off for $120,000 itself let alone the entire price of the car.

But it has a racing stripe.
