What mode(s) for daily driving?

Curious as to what modes everyone uses for daily driving and why? I DD with:

- Gauge cluster / Touring / L oil temp / R hp meter / C speedo
- Exhaust Track
- Steering Track
- Suspension Touring / Don't mess with TC for daily driving

Gauge cluster in touring is easiest for me to read quickly. HP meter is in because it make me laugh. Exhaust is track except when the wife is in the car. Steering just doesn't feel weighted enough for me unless it's in track. Suspension in touring is just right.....track is a teeth-rattler on my local roads.

I keep everything in sport except the exhaust, set to track (which is the same as sport???)

I used touring on roads that i knew were bumpy and the ride was nice and soft but wayyy to bouncy for me. So i put it back to sport.

Normal driving - touring (exhaust = tour / track)
Long road trip - eco
In rain - weather
Canyon or driving like an ass - sport
Gauges - I always switch them up

I don't use track on the street. I have about 33k miles on my Z and still going strong.

I want my throttle response on track mode but touring everything else. how?

capevettes 01-05-2017 08:24 AM

I run in Sport or Track mode all the time. Exhaust in open mode all the time. M7 pulled fuse 42 . Steering set in track mode. It feels and sounds like a sports car should.

I've been running in Touring mode but don't like the mufflers open all the time. In fact they are open in all modes for some reason. After playing with the controls can't get them to close. Maybe somebody can help me out? I like the round tachometer so I can read the lower rpm. Also like to read engine coolant temp and oil temp. so I know when it's ready to roll!

I drive in Touring mode with exhaust on track and HUD on track.

How do you get exhaust off of track mode?

h3mpking 01-05-2017 09:12 AM

The majority of the time I am in touring mode with split time in sport mode. Regardless of mode, I always keep my gauge cluster set to touring. I like to see the numerical values for the oil, water, etc. On the occasion someone gets froggy and wants to play in Mexico, I will reach down and put her in track mode.

Suspension - Touring
Exhaust - Touring
DIC - Sport
HUD - Sport

DIC and HUD are not linked to driving mode, everything else is.

I use track mode for going over speed bumps (have a lot at work).

99% of the time I use sport mode, 1% touring. :cheers:

I hate to sound dumb, but how do you adjust the exhaust and steering to track mode while keeping the suspension in touring mode? Would love to have the sound and control without the stiffness.

Around Town:
PTM = Sport or Tour
Exhaust = Track

Freeways:
PTM = Tour
Exhaust = Tour

I have never used Eco.

2015 Z07, M7.

There are detailed instructions in the owners manual. Lots of good stuff in there.

When is the best time to use Track mode? Which is not necessarily a track

I wouldn't recommend risking it on the street. I've cracked 2 wheels.
It's a real PITA to replace.

Davidryan1987 01-05-2017 04:23 PM

Steering Sport
Suspension Sport
Exhaust Sport
Gauges Stay On Whatever The Last Thing I Was Playing With At The Stoplight :D

Do Not Like How The Car Delivers The Power In Touring Mode.

Track all the time, except for eco at times on the interstate when I am cruising along and weather when it is raining. Like the feel of Track. Roads are pretty good here so I don't often have to worry about wheel damage.
