Best Intake for Boost

I have done a lot of searching and haven't found the information I was looking for. My car made 680hp with a stock bottom end and afr 225 heads with a p1sc1 and 13psi. It's a 2004 with a built a4. I was looking at putting good rods and pistons in it with a d1sc and was wondering what I should do for an intake manifold. The car has the stock ls6 stuff right now.

Thanks
Ryan

Stick with the stock ls6

I agree!

guys have gone deep into the low 8s on stock ls6 and truck intakes, and ssinisterc6 on here made something crazy like 1400whp on stock ls7. money better spent elsewhere

The D1SC will limit power before the LS6 intake will lol

Wow. Everyone seems to be on the same page with this. I figured I would want to run a ls2 tb to take advantage of the bigger opening.

By all means fit whatever you want, if you want a different look, or perhaps change power delivery a little etc.

But value for money, when you already have an LS6....they just perform superbly everywhere. And you're still at very modest power levels compared to others using the LS6.

Would anyone's opinion change if it was on top of a 408?

Not when the LS6 intake can easily handle more than your blower will provide.

As said, some other intakes might offer some small gains, but ultimately your blower will dictate power.

If you were maybe turning 6500-7000rpm and above, yes some other intakes will yield better results ( and not fit without new hood/cutting or whatever )

But it seems you want to change the intake...so just change it. Be happy. But the LS6 is just bloody good, and fits almost any chassis without modification. And the best bit...it's totally free as you already have one.

if you want more power, but the money towards a bigger blower.

I made over a 1000 with a LS6 intake. My son made over 900 with a LS1 intake. Both our limitations were fuel, not intake. Stick with the LS6.

I'm honestly happy with everyone's feedback. It let's me check that part off my list and put the money elsewhere. I just didn't realize that intake was that good.

It seems with boost the intake goes to the bottom of the upgrade list as they are all very close to each other as far as performance. It turns more into a space and look mod than a performance mod for 98% of cars. Just like mentioned before a LS1 intake and 317 heads have made 1200hp and been 7s on a 402 turbo ls foxbody

it's not that it goes to the bottom of the list as a generic statement. It's just that the LS6 intake is just bloody good.

There can be many intakes out there that are not so good, and the LS6 is a good upgrade over an LS1.

i blew my ls2 at 30 psi. going with an RCI as a replacement

lilryan 01-07-2017 03:39 PM

That looks like a good intake.

algZO6 01-07-2017 03:45 PM

anything under 25 stay with a stock intake.

Ls6 with ls2 snout

Some of the guys have sent there LS6 intake off and had the LS2 snout installed for the bigger TB to be used. It's been awhile since I've seen it done so not sure on any increase in power.
