67 Shifter Console Question

Hey Guys,
I'd like to restore the original red shifter console in my 67 but am consused. From the research I've done it appears that the consoles were painted but my console appears to have a red vinyl inlay. Did it come from the factory this way or was this added later? Thanks for any help.

Must have been an owner upgrade at some point. All consoles were chromed first, then painted. Wouldn't be hard to do though.

The metal is molded with a vinyl look due to the mold design. That area is painted to match the rest of the interior.

Its been a while but I know there is a thread from a forum owner who went through the process to prep and paint a center console.

Thanks Guys. Its definitely a nicely done vinyl inlay. Its flush with the top of the 4-speed plate. I hate to do it as its a nice job but I'll peel it off as its not correct. Anyone know what paint codes would be used for the consoles?

Thanks. I did notice that thread and that is when I realized that the vinyl was not correct.
