Finally got the chance to post photos of my first Corvette. The car is all original, including the paint, except for Magnaflow mufflers and the radio. This car has 48K miles and has been kept in a barn for the last nearly 10 years in Nebraska. I had it shipped to me here in Tennessee 2 days ago. Its safe to say I'm offically in love.

Burress06 01-21-2017 06:51 PM

Most importantly, getting to enjoy the car with my son.

That's a really nice car you have there and I'm pleased to see that it's a manual. IMHO all sports cars should be manuals.
I hope to share your joy when I get my hands on my original 39K mile 88 model sometime next week. I bought the car in the first week of October and it's been hard to be patient when it missed the boat in early December, and then failed the quarantine test last Friday (road grime under the wheel arches). Hopefully it will pass it's retest in the next couple of days, and then I will be as happy as you.

Beautiful car! Congrats!

SmokinBlack 01-21-2017 07:22 PM

Very nice, I love the Torch Red, same as my 93. Welcome to the Club......

Very clean! I know how much fun you're son will have. Because my dad always had Vettes since I was born. Never wanted to get out them!

I agree about how fun a manual is for cruising! Congrats on your 88! Keep us updated and post pics!

He's 13 now...scary to think he's gonna be asking to drive it in the not so distant future!

Congratulations and welcome to the club. It looks like it has 48 miles not 48,000! Enjoy!!!

Sorry, I tend to bristle at the phrase "all original", because no 25+ year old car is. Including this one. I just found 4 items from pics only. The wiring mods is a biggie.

It does appear to be in nice cosmetic condition. Enjoy it.

And if you had bothered to read the mufflers are MAGNAFLOW, not FLOWMASTER and he stated clearly that they were obviously not original. He also mentioned the radio which would also include wiring mods that seem so important to you. Can't believe in all your astute observations you failed to bring that up!

I also call BS on your claim of no 25 year old car being original. I have seen several right down to the tires and windshield wipers.

Go "bristle" somewhere else and not try and piss all over someone else's joy.

The car looks amazing! Being from K-town myself I can think of some nice mountain roads that you and your son will love to drive it on. Pay no attention to the kill-joy above.

Dude, get over yourself.

Also congrats on car, I received my "all original" 96' couple weeks ago. Best money I have spent in a long time.

Enjoy.

Almost twin to my red 91 six speed. Really like Red/Red mine is Red/Gray. Also 91 red is just called "Bright Red" not Torch Red, but I'm not sure if it is the same color.
Good Luck!

crowz 01-22-2017 07:33 AM

That's one niiiiiice vette. Congratz !

hcbph 01-22-2017 07:45 AM

Beautiful car, congrats. I'm sure you're going to have a fight on your hands down the road keeping it away from your boy

I've seen it with my granddaughter and my 86. One day after school she was dropped off at the house. When the wife went to take her home, little one got ready and was supposed to head out to the van with the wife right behind her. Got to the van, no granddaughter. After looking all over the house, backyard, etc. the wife finally heard something and found the little one sitting in my Vette 'driving it' and making motor noises. No bad for a 6 year old

Enjoy your time together, it's priceless.

She's already asked me when she get's old enough for a drivers license if I'll let her drive the Vette. She loves riding in it but waiting to see if she'll ever get to drive it. My usual answer is "We'll see" :yesnod: I also remind her that her Mommy hasn't driven it either.

FASTAZU 01-22-2017 09:55 AM

Congrats, very nice 91 hope you enjoy many miles of smiles.

Renfield 01-22-2017 01:08 PM

Beautiful! Congratulations and thanks for posting the photos.

I love my Torch Red '96, but I think you found the sweet spot in the C4 lineup. Later body style, no roof mounted third brake light, and best of all NO OPTI-SPARK!

It looks well cared for and unmolested.

Haha! My son asked me today if he could drive it when he gets his liscence.

Got a manual here too. You will love the manual. Just stretched her legs out yesterday on a short curvy mountain road yesterday and it was therapeutic w/ the 6 speed.

Mine is original too. So original a couple of the Bose speakers don't work

Agreed. I just sold my 1987 Porsche 944 with 43k miles on it. It was all original down to the tires. It was quite literally like a time capsule.

Very nice GRATS!!!

Do you have a Tail of the Dragon run planned :) Good time to run it if the roads are dry no bikes this time of year.

Corvette Expo March 17-18 @ the Sevierville Convention Center.

And don't forget Mountain Run 5 coming up in May. It usually finishes at the C4 gathering at NCM with track time and very few C4 souvenirs.

I would definitely like to go. I only live about 15 minutes away.. Great point about motorcycles not being on it. I hadn't thought about that...

Oooh, nice! The color, in law enforcement parlance is "arrest me red". Stunning. Tell us more about yourself. What other performance cars have you owned? How long have you wanted, or lusted a Corvette and why a C4? Finally, let us know after a few months how you feel about it. As a recent C4 owner I figured this would be a stepping stone to a newer C5 or C6 in a few years but after 2 years in the drivers seat I'm inclined to think this is a keeper.

My favorite is to take the Cherohala Skyway up to the dragon. Fun on a Harley, can't wait to do it in my Vette!

I've always been around cars growing up. My first car was a 1985 Z-28. My dad raced a 1974 GTO and a 1996 Cobra. I went off to the military 13 years ago (still in) and am finally to the point where I can afford a few things for myself (always put my wife & children first). I have always loved the C4. When this one became available I jumped on it. I like the look and LOVE the interior. At first i thought it would be a stepping stone to a newer Vette, but the more i drive it the more I like it.
