Just for fun, my C5, nasty little brother races a Cuda

Sorry, title should have said my C5's nasty little brother.

I love my C5, but its little brother, my Supercharged 3.8 liter E85 fiero tangles with a Cuda. The Fiero runs 11.80 at 114mph. I am using it as a way to grow my tuning knowledge before I start messing with the Corvettes induction and tuning. I think I lost this 1/4 mile race by about 2 car lengths. Needless to say, the Cuda driver was still surprised.

That's one quick Fiero you've got.

I had two Fieros (a slow learner), sold them before they caught fire. Never considered a 3.8, I like those motors and looks better than my 2M4.

I'm wondering how this relates to C6 Corvettes?

Did you get all that out of a 2.8?

Toys4Life C5 01-28-2017 01:49 PM

It relates to Corvettes because it is GM, exterior is not metal and it is fast. Plus I have a Corvette that I am planning to take everything I have learned about tuning (HP TUNERS) and boost from this project and apply it to the more expensive Corvette platform. It is all in fun!

Sleeper. Very popular these days. I regularly see cars at other sites with 1000 hp to the wheels.

No, it is a GM 3800 Series 2, more boost (13 psi) E85, mild cam free flowing exhaust (not headers).

That is excellent!

The later iterations of the 3.8 were one of the best GM setups with decent power, smooth operation, and excellent fuel economy. My 1989 Olds Toronado and 1997 Pontiac Grand Prix both had versions of this engine and I was happy with both. However I do recall the first use of it by Buick in the 1970s. A friend's mom drove one and I felt you needed to do like the Flintstones and stick your feet through the floorboards to help it when trying to merge onto an interstate.

Agreed. b/t/w my 3800 came out of a 97 Buick Regal GS.

It's in the "Other Cars" section. It doesn't have to relate to anything other than being a car.
