Need your advice-how much of a discount should look for on a new 2017?
 

All, C6 here. Haven't purchased a Corvette since I bought my C6 new in 2008. Very interested in going the 2017 ZO6 route.

I'm out of touch with pricing on these vehicles now and need your feedback. How much of a discount percentage (or dollars) should I look for when purchasing a new 2017 ZO6? I see some dealers offering a good discount and others not so good.

12% to 15% off of the total MSRP on an in-stock 2017 Z06. This discount includes the $2000 Corvette Owner Loyalty.
For an in-stock Grand Sport, the discount should be 15% to 17%

Expect a better discount if you choose off the lot rather than order to your specs, which IMO, is reasonable. Check with the forum dealers. The thing is, you can spin your wheels and awfully long time searching for the Best Deal Ever, or you can just get it done. If you're willing to take one of the remaining 2016's, you can expect a discount in excess of 20%.

McMulkin, Kerbeck, and others that are high volume have great deals right now, including new GSs for under 60k. Regular dealers cannot touch that. I haven't checked Z06 lately, but those dealers should also have the best deals.

I am purchasing Monday this one from Rick CONTI at a $11000 or 13% discount including the GM Loyalty discount.

These expired on the 13th. Contact them but I think the discounts have dropped a few percent.

Also if you are open to used there are tons of very low mileage Z06's out there and you can save some money and still add an extended warranty if you want.

Pick up my 17' dec 23 an the discount equaled 13.5%

Finding what you want in inventory is the best bet, I got my '16 from Mike Furman at Criswell and as the year winds down the discount gets better. They have fairly large inventory.

Actually, dealers don't make as much on inventoried units as compared to ordered units, generally speaking. However, because buying from inventory is more of an impulsive transaction, dealers understand that the odds are in their favor for making much gross profit on these units. The only exception is that the mfg often puts $$ on units that have been in inventory for a while to help the dealer make room for more inventory. However, this $ doesn't usually make the dealer whole, but can soften the loss.

The great majority of dealers floor (fancy word for have a loan for) their inventory, and typically start paying interest on the loan amt once the vehicle hits the dealer's lot. Most mfg's calculate when the dealer starts getting charged interest by an avg transit time calculation. Simply put, sometimes the dealer gets the vehicle before they start getting charged, while other times they are paying days/weeks before the vehicle actually arrives.

When a customer orders a vehicle, the dealer is typically able to deliver the vehicle prior to interest charges commencing, notwithstanding extended shipping timelines. This is one example of how it costs the dealer less on an ordered unit.

There's several reason why dealers don't like to offer great discounts on orders:
1. Afraid customers will not be as interested in inventory
2. Fear too many will just order for the discount... not loyal to dealership
3. Perceive that they lose gross profit control with this type of purchase
4. Feel they can never get that "cat" back in the bag once its out

Was looking today and found an average of 12k per car up here in the twin cities area of MN. Some dealers of course dont show prices but others do.

I'm awaiting a quote on a 2017 TR/AR Grand Sport 2LT. I couldn't find one in stock so I'm going to order it from the factory. I know that the large forum dealers are discounting 11% plus $1,500 bonus cash and an additional $2,000 loyalty discount. 11% plus $1,500 equals 14% and then add the $2,000 on top is a great deal. I just wish I could find one I liked in stock. I'm sure my factory order won't be discounted as much but we shall see. I should know tomorrow.

PS....despite all the nay sayers, I sold my Base 2014 TR/AR 3LT with 12,680 miles today for $45,000. A guy is buying it for his wife and had no problem with my asking price. Assuming he gets approved it will be a done deal by tomorrow and I'll place my GS order....I hope.
