The tube stick I have is original. so you are half way there. There is current GM replacments that don't look the same for 20.00 for the dip stick and 25.00 for the tube. it has digital imprints on it Hope this helps. G |
Thanks for the info - I might be looking at the wrong tube then - is it supposed to be perfectly straight or curved? Do you happen to have a pic?

Hi,
They had a bend in them.
If you need a picture, let me know. Terry:lurk:

Like always,
You got to know what you are looking for. Also, I think I am seeing reproduction stuff being passed off as original on eBay. I think that there are some differences in factory vs over the counter GM replacement. I looked at a lot of cars to figure out what I believe is correct stuff. Round vs flat handle, pink vs white vs red tip. You can go nutz! Ask yourself what's the point. It's a little piece of metal.
Always good to make sure the rubber seal is good on the old ones. Not sure if a vacuum leak at that point would affect PCV function or idle. |
With my budget I'll have to just "get close"

For most of 1969, the big blocks used a standard looking dipstick with a white tip, P/N 3925520 (see first picture below). Then, in approx July of 1969, they change to the "bent" style. P/N 3959158 (see second picture below).
To know which one you need, you need to know your build date. Ed |
Very nice!

Very nice indeed. Perfect example of what I think is an original dip-stick.
Check out these 67's....

Dipstick
If the original '69 427 oil dipsticks are similar to the '70 454 expect to pay at least $100. According to NCRS the '70 454 Corvettes were seen with either a short one or long one. Some believe the long one was for AC equipped Corvettes to clear the compressor. The shaft characteristics being the same.

Dipstick
Original early C-3 dipsticks did not have part numbers stamped on them. ADD, FULL with level marks and sometimes a W. Read the 1969 NCRS Judging Guide. Email David Sokolowski to ask if he has one: corvettedavid@sbcglobal.net
Provide photo and/or description. |
