Should I be scared?
 

I'm looking at a 2014 supercharged a6 with 10000 miles. It is pushing around 650+hp. It was installed by dealer and is tuned also. It has header, its a z51. I'm wondering if the transmission, motor and other parts are going to be able to handle it. I'm not going to drag racing just some spirited driving once in awhile. Thank you for the advice.

Me and only speaking for me... I would not do it. Too many variables to worry about. I also dont have a lot of faith in many dealers. I would rather get an oem one and take it to the shop myself.

Likely no drivetrain warranty...would scare me.

If I were you, I'd do my spirited driving in a base C7 for under 50 grand from a forum dealer!

Why buy a home made ZO6. Buy a used ZO6. Stronger engine internals than the Z51. If someone built it up and it was great, why would they want to sell it?

I don't think you can fairly answer that without price and warranty offered. Post that and you'll probably answer your question.

^^^^this as well as who did the install and tune. If a reputable shop did the work that will make a huge difference. As far as warranty is concerned I doubt you'll have one unless the shop who did the work offered one which again is doubtful. I wouldn't worry however about the motor or trans handling the power both are more than capable. The c7 could certainly use the extra horsepower that's for sure.

The work was done by a corvette dealer he has done a lot of superchargers. there would be no warranty. The are asking 53000 for the car.

I wouldn't trust it. As a previous poster stated if you want the HP buy the used Z-06 and get it 100% stock if possible.

As long as you understand that, and are willing to pay for any powertrain repairs, then it's worthy of consideration. I think $53K is too high considering the risk you'd be taking.

It's not just a warranty issue. You'd be buying a car with Z06 power, that doesn't have the same equipment to handle that kind of power.

This. And I would trust it if it was done by a nationally recognized shop like Callaway, but not sure I would from a dealer even if they have installed a lot of superchargers.

Not to make a joke, but it can sometimes remind me of the journeyman in the trades who learned how to "do it" the wrong way in the distant past, and has been doing it that way ever since. I'd look more at the reputation of prior builds by any shop----dealer, indie shop, etc.---before I'd buy that car. Plus, as said before, it's all about the supporting structure beyond just the engine build such as how highly-stressed is that engine with/by the tune.

I would pass, too much risk for the cost.

Plenty of power for normal street type operations and spirited driving where possible. Seldom use full power for any length of time.

It's not a bad value when you consider the mods, mileage, etc. But I agree with the others. Based on your description above I would buy a used low mileage one that is stock and still has a warranty.
